I hope you all had a good break from school routine and also found the time to sit with your child and go over the mid year report. It has been great to start the term with parent teacher interviews, providing the opportunity to reflect on achievements in the first half of the year and set goals for semester two. Thanks to the parents who attended last night and to those who have already booked for next Tuesday evening. If you have missed booking your parent teacher interview, its not too late to do so. You can book on line at www.schoolinterviews.com.au booking code: wju5p If you are unable to attend at this time please contact your child s class teacher directly to make an alternative appointment. THE TERM AHEAD Term dates are included with this newsletter. We have many exciting things planned this term including, the Sacrament of Confirmation for Year 6, Book Week for all, Camp to Phillip Island Adventure Resort for year 5/6, Family Life evenings for years 1-6, Father s Day Stall and Breakfast, Student Disco and Footy Day. There are also several excursions and incursions in the planning around the integrated topic SYSTEMS which includes aspects of the laws, systems and cycles which govern the way physical and natural environment works. EMERGENCY DRILLS Over the next few weeks we will be conducting emergency drills which may include evacuation or lock down. This is an important practice, which is an annual requirement of all schools. Teachers will talk to students about the process and ensure they know how to react in the event of an emergency. SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION It is only a few weeks now until our Year Six students receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. The students have already been presented to the Parish at Mass and will attend a workshop with their parents tonight. Arch Bishop Denis Hart has visited the classroom and spent time talking with the students. They have learnt about the gifts of the Holy Spirit, looked at the lives of people who have demonstrated these gifts in action and chosen a saint s name. The Confirmation Ceremony is held as part of a special mass which will be held on Friday 4 th August at 7.00pm. All welcome. Yours Sincerely, Monica Coyle PRINCIPAL 1
