Dear Parents 5 M A R C H 2 0 1 4 There is a great deal of excitement as we near the end of the first term. Our summer sport season ended on a high note with our Inter-house swimming gala in the Preparatory School and the Senior School playing Parel Vallei for the Ashes in this annual cricket fixture. I would like to congratulate all runners, swimmers and players on their achievements this term. The winter season is around the corner and to assist the coaches, both Preparatory and Senior school students will start the winter sport programme next week. Parents must please refer to the special winter sport programme for the Preparatory School for Week 9 (10 to 14 March). We will send out the Preparatory programme for Term 2 during the test week. Students may have a problem with kit, because the clothing shop is closed until 1 April. We will be lenient on students. Please note that students must wear the correct protective gear mouth guards, shin guards, etc. We wish all teams going on tours and attending festivals during the school holidays the very best. MINI CRICKET Newlands Cricket Ground came alive on Friday 21 February at the KFC-sponsored Western Province Mini-Cricket Festival. Our U8A and U9A teams were amongst 120 other teams playing matches on a packed Newlands. Each team played two matches, with the U9As winning both their encounters and the U8As losing to an U9 team and drawing their last game. The boys enjoyed the outing thoroughly and were able to rub shoulders with some Cobra players at the ground too. Grade 1 boys playing their first mini cricket match against Somerset West.
