BIDEFORD BULLETIN Week commencing- 30/11/15 Welcome to the Bideford Bulletin for week commencing 30 November - our weekly newsletter for parents and carers. In this bulletin you will find the latest college diary of events, information about all the extra-curricular activities and the college menu. In addition there will be important information from members of staff, keeping you up to date with changes at the college. Ski Trip- Important Meeting for Students and Parents/Carers: There is an important meeting for all Parents/ Carers of students going on the Ski Trip on Wednesday 2 December at 5.30 7.00pm in Stucley Canteen. It is vital that all students going on the trip attend with their parents/ carers as we will go through the expectations and equipment needed for the trip. If you are unable to attend, please contact Mrs Reay as soon as possible at the College. Year 12 Subject Parents Evening: Year 12 Parents Evening is being held on Thursday 3 December, 4.00 6.30pm in the Devon Hall. This is an opportunity for students and parents/carers to meet with subject teachers to discuss progress. An email has gone home inviting parents/carers to log on and book an appointment if anyone is experiencing any problems call Mrs Gilbey on 01237 429558. Advance Warning Early Closure on Friday 18 December: Friday 18 December is the last day of the autumn term and as a result students will be dismissed at lunchtime. Students will be in normal lessons Periods 1 3, in Year Team activities Period 4 and dismissed at 1.20pm. Students eligible for Free School Meals are to collect their lunch from the Canteen at break time. Christmas Fair: The College is hosting a Christmas Fair in Stucley Canteen, 4.30 8.30pm on Thursday 3 December with various arts and crafts, food and Christmas stalls: REMINDERS Gym Trials: There will be Gym trials for the college teams for the North Devon Gymnastics Competition on Thursday 3 December for all Year 7 gymnasts 3pm - 4.30pm and trials for any Year 8 Sixth Form on Thursday 10 December 3pm - 4.30pm in the gym. It is absolutely crucial that any gymnast wanting to get in the teams for the competition attends the gym trial. Any queries speak to Ms Luke before the trial date. Big Up a Book: This weeks Big Up a Book totals have been updated and are on display in the Library. Well done to 7T5 who remain in the lead in the race to win the tin of chocolates at Christmas. They are closely followed by 7T3 who are trying really hard to catch them up. Remember to complete a Big Up slip each time you read a Library book to win prizes for yourself and for your tutor group. Poppy Dress Competition: The winner of the poppy dress competition was 7T6 guessing 290. The correct answer was 302! 7T6 will receive their prize this week. Well done to everyone who took part!
