July 21st 2017 Haddon Primary School Assistant Principal s Report The term has started off very cold and it seems that winter is certainly upon us. A reminder that all students need to be wearing the school winter uniforms and to have a warm coat to wear outside. A change of clothes and spare socks in school bags is important, especially when you see the large wet areas on the asphalt and oval. We have a large supply of tops and jumpers in second hand uniforms which are available for $2 each. An extra item may come in handy during these winter months! We welcome back Mrs Hipke, who will be taking PE and Health and Mrs George who will be taking Japanese for second semester. Mr Francis Carter will continue to work at our school taking Music on a fortnightly basis. Sporting Schools is a $160 million Australian Government initiative designed to help schools to increase children's participation in sport, and to connect them with community sporting opportunities. In the past we have received funding to offer the Sporting Schools program in school time, but for term 3 we will be offering the program outside of school hours. We are very pleased to be able to offer a 4 week after school sports programs for all students, free of charge in the hall on either Tuesday for Prep-2 or Wednesday Years 3-6 from 3:45-4:40pm as part of Sporting Schools funding. Trained facilitators from Kelly Sports, will plan and conduct and supervise the sessions. A registration and information sheet was sent home on Wednesday and is also available on the school website. Our Book Fair will be held next week in the Science /Japanese room from Wednesday through to Friday after school. Parents may purchase books from the Fair both before and after school. This is a wonderful opportunity to promote reading at home as well as supporting the school library to build up its resources.
