Our strengths Reading: 93.2% of our students are achieving at or above the National Standard (82.1% in 2016). Mathematics: 86.3% achieving at or above the National Standard (80.3% in 2016). They need to wear their school uniform and meet in the Parish Centre (under the Church) at 4.45pm, the Choir need to meet in the Church. Parking on Bassett Road The Auckland transport are investigating the issue of parking for parents to drop off and pick up students. If you want to make a suggestion please fill out a feedback form on their website Auckland Transport Feedback. Please can parents not park in the staff carpark before school. Chess Club on Tuesdays at 1.10pm in Room 9 All students are welcome to play. SPORT NEWS Year 5/6 Softball exchange games The first exchange games are underway with our Year 5/6 Softball A & B teams going to play at Dilworth Junior Campus. What a fun afternoon, with some great sportsmanship shown by our students. A big thanks to the parents who helped with coaching and transport. We look forward to the next exchange games in Week 6.

PTA NEWS St Patrick s Day Cocktail Party The PTA s first social event for the year! Saturday 17 March 2018, Five Knots Tamaki Yacht Club Thank you to those who have already purchased tickets to the St Patricks Day Cocktail Party. We have sold 56 tickets during the Early Bird incentive period and anticipate numbers will grow over the coming weeks. The winner of the Early Bird prize is Simon and Monique Booth. Monique is a new entrant parent who have just started at St Michael s Catholic School. Congratulations, you have won yourself a bottle of champagne to enjoy with friends and family to celebrate becoming a part of the St Michael s community. Tickets to the cocktail party will be selling until the 12 March, so get in fast and don t miss out on the first social function for Parents and Teachers. You are also very welcome to extend the invitation to your friends and family. Tickets may be purchased by making payment to the PTA account: 12-3075-0199134-00. Reference details: Surname, first name / Cocktail. Tickets are $50 each which includes entertainment and canapés. There will be a fully licensed bar available and the venue has ample parking which allows for vehicles to be left at the venue overnight and collected the next day. The PTA are also excited to announce that the entertainment has been booked. Guests will be greeted by the smooth sounds of one of New Zealand s most respected sax players and professional musician s; Bruce French. Bruce will provide background entertainment while guests have the opportunity to mingle and take in the breathtaking views from this beautiful venue. Guests will then be entertained by a band called South Collective which is a 5-piece band composed of accomplished Filipino musicians based in Auckland City who have been performing at show events and private engagements for the past 5 years. The band's music repertoire consists of covers and renditions of hits from the 70 s, 80 s and the 90's, mixing various genres and styles. The band has prepared a setlist especially for our event that will surely make everyone get up and dance. The PTA are also proud to say that the band is led & directed by one of our very own St Michael s parents; Mike Cruz. Mike has also kindly offered to stay on and DJ the rest of the evening to ensure our dancing shoes get a good work out and guests are entertained till the very end. We look forward to welcoming Mike and his band to this wonderful event.

Next PTA Meeting Tuesday 6 March 7pm We have many new faces on the PTA this year and have also secured the support from many parents who have been long serving members of the PTA. It is a lovely group of parents who all share a common goal to enrich our children s education and to enhance and celebrate the beautiful school community. We welcome all parents to our next meeting on Tuesday 6 March at 7pm in the school library. Friday - Pizza and Ice Block Day Reminder to all parents that the PTA sell pizza and ice blocks on Friday s. If your child would like to purchase pizza for lunch, please ensure that they have the correct change. Pizza is sold for $2 per slice and ice blocks are sold for $2. Ice blocks are available at lunch time and after school during the summer months. Swimming Carnival Friday 9 March The PTA will be selling ice blocks for $2 and water for $1 on the day of the swimming carnival at Sacred Heart College.
