About the SARC By February 1 of each year, every school in California is required by state law to publish a School Accountability Report Card (SARC). The SARC contains information about the condition and performance of each California public school. Under the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF) all local educational agencies (LEAs) are required to prepare a Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP), which describes how they intend to meet annual school-specific goals for all pupils, with specific activities to address state and local priorities. Additionally, data reported in an LCAP is to be consistent with data reported in the SARC. For more information about SARC requirements, see the California Department of Education (CDE) SARC Web page at http://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/ac/sa/. For more information about the LCFF or LCAP, see the CDE LCFF Web page at http://www.cde.ca.gov/fg/aa/lc/. For additional information about the school, parents/guardians and community members should contact the school principal or the district office. 2015-16 Student Enrollment by Grade Level Grade Level Number of Students Kindergarten 52 Grade 1 50 Grade 2 50 Grade 3 80 Total Enrollment 232 2015-16 Student Enrollment by Group Group Percent of Total Enrollment Black or African American 0.9 American Indian or Alaska Native 0 Asian 1.3 Filipino 0 Hispanic or Latino 53.4 Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander 0.4 White 43.1 Two or More Races 0 Socioeconomically Disadvantaged 83.2 English Learners 38.8 Students with Disabilities 12.9 Foster Youth 0.9 A. Quality, Currency, Availability of Textbooks and Instructional Materials (School Year 2016-17) Textbooks are adopted from the most recent State-approved or local governing board approved list, and are consistent with the content and cycles of the curriculum frameworks adopted by the State Board of Education. Every student, including English Learners, has access to their own textbooks and instructional materials to use in class and to take home. All students in the Taft City School District receive the District s core curriculum, which is based on the State curriculum documents (including frameworks), State academic standards, reading and math task force reports, specific program requirement handbooks, or government reports. The following is a list of materials/textbooks that are considered core curriculum in the Taft City School District. During the 2005-06 school year, Taft Primary moved to a portable building school site so that repairs, new windows, carpet, flooring, plumbing, heating, and cooling systems could be installed. The school site was modernized during this year. The school has 10 classrooms, a cafeteria, and a Library Media Center. Taft Primary is in good condition and is kept clean by one full-time custodian. She works from 7:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Classrooms are cleaned twice a week and all common areas are cleaned daily. In 2008-09, the playground received a new asphalt coating and lines were painted for the track and for various games. The District participates in the State School Deferred Maintenance Program, which provides state matching funds on a dollar-for-dollar basis, to assist school districts with expenditures for major repair or replacement of existing school building components. Typically, this includes roofing, plumbing, heating, air conditioning, electrical systems, interior or exterior painting, and floor systems. 2015-16 School Accountability Report Card for Taft Primary Elementary School Page 5 of 9

Opportunities for Parental Involvement (School Year 2016-17) Staff, parents and volunteers have many opportunities to work together throughout the year. Parents serve on the School Site Council, the English Language Advisory Committee, and the PTO. Volunteers work with our staff to support student learning. Parents provide support for activities and give input to better address the needs of our students. For more information on how to become involved with the school, please contact Heather Ward, Principal, at (661) 765-4151 For more information on how to become involved, contact Heather Ward, Principal, at (661) 765-4151 State Priority: School Climate The SARC provides the following information relevant to the School Climate State Priority (Priority 6): Pupil suspension rates; Pupil expulsion rates; and Other local measures on the sense of safety. School Safety Plan The staff monitors the school grounds for 15 minutes before school, immediately after dismissal, and during all recess periods. Students may arrive at 7:30 A.M. if they eat breakfast in the cafeteria or at 7:45 A.M. otherwise. The school staff reviews the drills yearly prior to the beginning of the school year and drills are practiced throughout the year. Because we are a small school, our District reviews its safety plan each year.
