La Calle Mundial Mr José Cáceres group, La Guagua de Cuentos, will be presenting his recently published bilingual book "La calle mundial" in a performance at the Kulturzentrum Schlachthof (Magazin Boden) in Bremen, Findorffstrasse 51 on Saturday, 28 April at 4.00pm. The entrance is free. Meet Our CAS Students... Mario, Grade 11 My CAS section, Activity, consists in playing football. I play it once or twice a week. It takes place on Bremen University s sports grounds. I play it along with teachers and students from ISB, some refugees, University students and anyone that would like to join in. I am the goalie. By doing this activity, I have improved my goalkeeping skills. I also think it is a very entertaining way of playing a sport, and an easy way of getting to know new people. Grade 12 German Literature Class Fieldtrip to Worpswede As the ultimate unit for the IB German Literature Class is 20 th Century Poetry, this year s class decided to go to Worpswede to have a look at and compare pieces of art from the same periods, particularly those from the turn of the century such as Heinrich Vogeler s Barkenhoff and the Große Kunstschau, Expressionism (Niedersachsenstein) and some contemporary painters and sculptors such as Waldemar Otto. A barbecue at Grade 12 student Linus home gave us the opportunity to discuss the poems they are studying in more detail - a great finish to this wonderful last get-together. Many thanks to Linus and his parents for their hospitality and best wishes to all Grade 12 students for their exams! (By Mr Neumann) Also showing his skills here is our new Director...!!! 2 Parent Bulletin 27 April 2018
Camp Adventure Grade 6 Take On the Great Outdoors! The peace and quiet of the forests surrounding Walsrode was shattered last week as Grade 6 arrived to take on the challenges ahead of them at Camp Adventure and what a week it was! The Camp Teamers welcomed our students with open arms, got everyone settled, then got started with their week of challenging activities almost immediately! Some rather concerned and apprehensive Grade 6 faces very quickly showed signs of relief and pure joy as the teambuilding activities began and a big game of Capture the Flag, before they were invited to take part in the traditional Camp Adventure Opening Camp Fire Ceremony. With campfire songs such as A-rist-a-sha and oh-laylay, along with the Breaks (a VERY complicated clapping sequence), the students were full of motivation and enthusiasm for the week ahead and this didn t change once! All of them got involved in everything, from the big swing to the climbing ladder, from kayaking to the freezing cold Polar Bear Club! The week was packed and the weather could not have been better, which made the excursion to the Serengeti Park even more enjoyable too. The week was rounded off by the traditional Camp Adventure Camp Fire Closing Ceremony and a special mention went to both Alexander and Olenka, who were given the honour of lighting the fire because of their hard work and great attitudes all week. I can honestly say that I have never seen our Grade 6 students so motivated and so involved. I think we, the ISB, as well as you, the parents, and the students themselves can be extremely proud of an incredible week. I am sure the students learnt a lot from their time there and made experiences they will never forget; I certainly learnt a lot from the students too. A HUGE Grade 6 and Staff Thank you! goes to Dave (Ciarán), Olive, Fabio and Caro of Camp Adventure for looking after us all so well! (By Mr Bridge) 27 April 2018 Parent Bulletin 3
