COURSE SELECTION PROCESS Late Fall/Early Winter Presentation from High School College & Career Readiness Specialist about grad plan and endorsements. Early Winter Meet with 8 th Grade Counselor to make initial endorsement decision and complete 4 year plan. Beginning of March Meet with High School Counselors to finalize and submit 9 th grade course selections. 9 th Grade Year Confirm endorsement selection and 4 year plan with counselor and parents. 10 th through 11 th Grade Yearly update during course selection.

Five total science credits including Biology, Chemistry, Physics and two additional science courses. Five total math credits including Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2 and two additional math classes.
BUSINESS & INDUSTRY: ENDORSEMENT OPTIONS Four credits in Career & Technical Education including three courses (one advanced) from the Business & Industries courses from the same career cluster. Four English elective credits including three levels in debate, newspaper, or yearbook.

AP CLASSES AND EXAMS Exam fee Fee-reduced exams College Board and the State of Texas will pay a portion of the fees for students who are currently receiving free or reduced lunches. Dual Credit A partnership between Tarrant County College Northwest Campus and Eagle Mountain -Saginaw ISD provides opportunities for students to gain both high school and college credit at the same time. We also offer a couple of courses through University of Texas at Austin. Dual credit courses add GPA points. Please be aware that these are college courses taught by college instructors with college rules. Eligibility: Completion of high school sophomore year Overall grade B average Obtain permission from the high school Enroll at the college/university offering the course(s) Meet the entrance requirements of the college/university including the required placement exams Classes offered: See the Course Description Handbook Cost: Current tuition rates for the class you are taking. Grade Point Average Grade Point Average (GPA) is calculated by averaging the semester grades you earn in every class you take for state credit towards graduation. Pre-AP, AP and Dual Credit classes give you extra points per semester grade calculated into your GPA. Pre-AP and Dual Credit Courses add 5 points. AP Courses add 10 points
ARE GRADES REALLY IMPORTANT? All grades go into the GPA. AP, PAP, & Dual Credit classes give added points. Top 10% (7% @ UT in Austin) on Distinguished Level of Achievement get automatic admission.
WHAT IS A CREDIT? A credit is earned with successful completion of one year of a class. A one-semester course will earn 0.5 credit when successfully completed. English 1 = year-long course = 1.0 cr Money Matters = one-semester course = 0.5 cr 5.5 credits are required to be a sophomore (and in 2 nd year) 12 credits are required to be a junior (and in 3 rd year) 19 credits are required to be a senior (and in 4 th year) 26 credits are required to graduate
