St. Agnes School Mailbag Newsletter for January 12, 2018 Special Notes from Mrs. Paulsell: DRIVES FOR CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK: We are hosting two drives during Catholic Schools Week later this month. We will be collecting gently used toys for all ages that will be donated to local shelters and organizations that help families. We will also be collecting kitchen equipment and supplies that are in good condition and plan to donate these to organizations that prepare meals or supply kitchen space for families of sick children. The purpose of the drives is to clean out your house for the new year and donate to others who could use it more that you can. Please do not go out and buy new items. HONOR ROLL: Congratulations to those students who earned Honor Roll honors for 2nd quarter and/or 1st semester. We are so proud of the hard work and commitment it takes for this academic achievement. ACTIVE CATHOLIC FORMS: Fr Lewis will meet with parents regarding their Active Catholic Form after the 5 pm Saturday Mass, and Sunday after the 8:30 am, 11:30 am & 5 pm Masses. Active Catholic forms are available on Springfield Catholic Schools website, under the Admissions tab. There are also copies here at the front desk. Calendar Reminders:. January 15th: No School in Observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day January 20th : Optional Science Olympiad practice from 9 am - Noon January 21st: Mother Son Game Night at Incredible Pizza @ 4 pm---invitations have been sent home with your student. Please return RSVPs by Jan 16! January 21st: St. Agnes Feast Day January 26th: 1st Grade Parent Breakfast January 27th: Knights of Columbus Free Throw Contest January 27th-February 3rd: Catholic Schools Week (Schedule attached to mailbag) SAVE THE DATE: Trivia Night is quickly approaching. Mark your calendars February 10th for an adult-only evening filled with laughter and crazy trivia. Details on the event and table reservations are attached to the mailbag.

Announcements: What a beautiful All-School Mass this week. Thank you to our 4th grade for their hard work in preparation for this Mass. 3rd grade will be planning Mass for next week. Please come and share in the school liturgy with us. There will be an extra, optional Science Olympiad practice on Saturday, Jan. 20th from 9 am - noon. The Regional Science Olympiad competition at MSU is on Saturday, February 24, 2018. Catholic Schools Week NEED!!! : I am looking for adults that would be willing to come and speak to our students at lunch on Tuesday, January 30th on how their own personal experience as a Catholic Schools student helped shape their adult life. Please contact Mrs. Paulsell if interested in helping! Knights of Columbus Free Throw Contest is coming soon. Forms are located at the office (and attached to the mailbag) for those girls and boys ages 9-14 interested in participating. Home & School News: Spiritwear: Blankets and UNIFORM-APPROVED socks are available for immediate purchase at the front desk! Home and School Meeting Notes : Thank you to all who attended the meeting this week. The notes are attached to the mailbag for those who could not attend. Box Tops: We are running behind in our Box Top goal for the year. Every 50 box tops turned in gets a free out-of-uniform pass. Please check the expiration dates before sending into the office. Thanks for your help! We are also working on a class competition to be held this semester for boxtops in an effort to get the kids involved. NEW!!! There is a boxtops app for your device that allows you to earn bonus box tops on various products. We the faculty and staff of St. Agnes Cathedral School in a shared community with parents are dedicated in preparing our students to meet the challenges of the future based on the values and teachings of Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church.
