Senior Information (Registration forms for Senior Events are available in the SENIOR SECTION of Quick Links on the website.) (The dress code for all events is available in Downloads on the website.) College Day Seniors will be able to meet with over 100 college reps on Brother Martin s campus during their unstructured 4 th or 5 th period on Thursday, September 21, 2017. Parents are welcome to attend. Diploma - At the Mandatory Senior & Parent Meeting on Monday, August 21, 2017, your son will receive a form confirming the correct spelling of his full given name as it appears in our data system (first name, middle name, last name, suffix) and as it will appear on his diploma. You will be asked to sign-off on the spelling of his name as it appears on the form or make the necessary correction(s). The form will also ask for information about legacies (alumni fathers, grandfathers, etc.) who ve attended Brother Martin, St. Aloysius, and/or Cor Jesu. This information, if verified as correct, will be listed in the Graduation Program under your son s name. Those signed forms will be collected at the end of the meeting. Father-Son Dinner & Game Night This event will be held on Monday, March 5, 2018, beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the Benson Mall. Following a great dinner, dads and sons will have the opportunity to play games and enjoy their time together. There will also be a Name that Dad contest where each senior will try to name the most dads from the dads senior photos. The deadline to submit a dad s senior photo is Friday, February 9, 2018. The cost is $20 per person. The deadline to register for this event is Tuesday, February 27, 2018. (The registration form can be found in Quick Links under Senior Section.) Graduation Announcements You should have received information in the mail from Jostens regarding ordering graduation announcements. Your son will place the order for his Graduation announcements at Orientation in August; therefore, you should send him to Orientation with the completed forms. Your son s personalized Graduation announcements will be distributed in March of 2018. The graduate s name will appear on the announcements as it appears on his diploma. Checks for announcement orders should be made payable to Jostens. August Orientation will be your ONLY OPPORTUNITY to order Graduation Announcements. Graduation Cap and Gown Jostens will confirm your son s height and weight as you ve recorded it on his Graduation announcement order form at the August Student Orientation. The cost of the cap and gown is included in the Brother Martin January 2018 graduation fee. Your son will receive his cap and gown the night before Graduation at the Senior Appreciation Dinner. Graduation Ceremony Graduation is Friday, May 25, 2018, at the Lakefront Arena at the University of New Orleans. The ceremony begins promptly at 6:00 p.m. Admission to Graduation is by Admit Card only, and those admit cards will be distributed in March 2018 when the Jostens graduation materials are distributed. Seniors and their parents/stepparents are seated on the arena floor for graduation next to the graduate. Each senior will receive 2 Graduate Section Admit Cards for his parents. Additional Graduate Section Admit Cards, to be used by stepparents only, may be requested by completing a request form. This form is posted on the website in the Senior Section of Quick Links. The deadline for requests is January 26, 2018. Each senior will also receive 12 General Admission Admit Cards. Due to the limited seating in the sections of the Arena that we use, no additional general admit cards will be distributed. Also, (06/07/16)

General Admission Admit Cards may be exchanged for Accessible Seating (formerly known as Handicapped seating) Area Admit Cards in the Student Services Office. There is limited seating for individuals needing accessibility seating; therefore you should make those requests as soon as your receive your General Admit Cards in March. Graduation Liturgy - Graduation Liturgy will be held at St. Joseph Church at 1802 Tulane Ave., New Orleans, on Sunday, May 20, 2018. Other casual photos may also be taken at this time or arranged at another seating. Consult Romaguera Studios regarding any special requests and costs. On Friday, August 25, 2017, seniors will travel by school-provided buses to Camp Abbey Retreat Center in Covington for a day of swimming, fishing, games and food. Students should arrive to school by 7:45 a.m. for departure, and they should return to campus at approximately 3:00 p.m. Seniors should bring a swim suit and a towel. All seniors are expected to participate in this community-building event. Senior Seminars There will be a College Seminar for parents of seniors on Monday, August 28, 2017, in the Auditorium beginning at 6:30 p.m. This presentation will be a repeat of the college information presented to all seniors in Religion Class the previous week, and is an opportunity for parents to receive this information on the College Application Process. June 22, 2017 Dear Senior Parents, Welcome to your son s senior year! We are all looking forward to the leadership of the Class of 2018. As we begin to make preparations for the school year, and as you were reminded in Mr. Lynn s summer global email to seniors and their parents, please mark your calendar for the mandatory Senior/Parent Meeting on Monday, August 21, 2017, in the Benson Mall beginning at 6:00 p.m. Each senior and at least one parent must attend the meeting, and this meeting will also serve as the Class Level Meeting. Additionally, at your son s Student Orientation on Wednesday, August 9, 2017, Jostens will be available to receive your final ring payment in preparation for the August 24, 2017 Ring Mass, as well as your order for graduation materials (ie. Graduation Announcements, etc.). Please note that Brother Martin pays for each student s Cap and Gown; therefore, you will not include the Cap and Gown in your payment to Jostens - only your son s height and weight is needed so that they will send the correct size. Also, if you did not order a senior ring from Jostens and your son is going to be using a legacy senior ring from either St. Aloysius, Cor Jesu, or Brother Martin, please have your son turn in that ring placed in a bag and labeled with his name to me during Student Orientation. We will turn in all of the legacy rings to Jostens prior to the Ring Mass so that the rings can be correctly arranged for distribution. Please understand that if you are choosing not to purchase a senior ring for your son and he will not be using a legacy ring, then we still strongly encourage him and your family to attend the Ring Mass on August 24, 2017. Have your son tell me that this is the situation, and I will be happy to talk him through what takes place at Mass and how important it is that he take part in the Mass, in the Ceremony, and in this lasting memory for him and for your family as a very exciting year gets underway. Finally, please take the time to look at the Senior Section that is located in Quick Links on Brother Martin s website. On that link you will find important information regarding all of the Senior Dates to Remember, Senior Information and Reminders, order forms for senior events, etc. Again, we are looking forward to a great year with you and with the Class of 2018! Enjoy the rest of the summer, and we will see you in August. Sincerely, Gabrielle G. Macaluso Assistant Principal for Student Services
