GRADES and CREDIT Always Try Your BEST! A - D grades = 5.0 credits However, a D grade will NOT count for college admissions. A D grade will affect your total G.P.A. A D grade will affect your Cal Grant eligibility ($$$). A D in an Honors, AP, IB level course is always a D F grades = 0 credits If you fail a required course (English, Math, History, etc.) you MUST.
Staying on Track for Graduation and 4-YR Plan Make an appointment with your counselor starting February 2016 to create a tentative 4-year plan. On-target: 30 credits per semester, 60 credits per year. If you fail a required academic course (English, math, history, etc.) you MUST make it up in Summer School.
18 years of age or High School Diploma Community College Admissions Requirements No SAT/ACT required Complete freshman and sophomore years at a community college. Transfer to a 4-year public or private college. Highly recommended following the CSU/UC req. Important to identify major prior.
Cal State/UC A-G Admissions Requirements A 2 yrs. Social Sciences B 4 yrs. English (P) C 3 yrs. Math (4yrs. rec.) D 2 yrs. Lab Science - 1 Biological, 1 Physical (3 yrs. rec.) E 2 yrs. World Language same language (3 yrs. rec.) F 1 yr. VPA -Visual and Performing Arts (1 year or two semesters), chosen from one or 4 disciplines: Dance, Music, Theater or Visual Arts. G 1 yr. approved elective chosen from any area on a-g course list. UC schools only allow courses to be repeated 1 time to make up a D or F grade. Both grades remain on transcript & computed in GPA. UC Admissions Requirements Two SAT Subject Tests are no longer required for admissions. However, students could still take and choose to submit their scores for consideration as part of their application, especially if you excel in that subject. The Subject Tests also could be recommended for certain majors, e.g. Engineering. Check with the college/university. All applicants must complete 11 of the min. 15 a-g courses by the end of their Junior year. Minimum 3.0 GPA or higher Take 4-5 a-g courses each year. COLLEGE ADMISSIONS TESTS ACT Aspire Results released in December 2015. PSAT - taken in 11th grade, a practice for SAT Take SAT and/or ACT with Writing during JUNIOR year (usually March, April, May, or June) Take SAT Subject Test in May or June after completing appropriate course. (Ex: World Hist, Bio, Physics this June) You may re-take the SAT Reasoning & Subject test or ACT with Writing during Senior year by December for most public colleges.
