SWIMMING CARNIVAL The Swimming Carnival results were announced at Assembly on Monday. Age champions were presented with their trophies and the record breakers acknowledged. There were many examples of students trying extra hard, doing their best and swimming better than they believed they could!! Well done also to the Colour House Captains for their efforts on the day too. Full results are included in this newsletter. The success swimming carnival is due to the support of parents who make it all possible. Thanks to Mr Sheedy for all the organisation of the day and to the teachers who help out in so many ways that ensured the success of the 2018 Swimming Carnival. ISDA DEBATING The teams have been selected to represent Corpus Christi in the Independent Schools Debating Association (ISDA). We are fortunate to be entering two teams into this premier debating competition as the junior school of Brigidine College. The competition started last Friday with the first debate at Brigidine. Congratulations to all the debaters last week despite debating being new to some of them, they stood their ground and make an excellent start to debating by delivering their points well and engaging in rebuttal. This week the debaters meet Sydney Grammar at another home debate at Brigidine. Good luck for the season! NAPLAN We have been informed that NAPLAN will remain a pencil/paper test for 2018. It is anticipated that there will be full participation in NAPLAN ONLINE BY 2020. Year 3 and Year 5 parents will have further details sent home today. THE LIGHT IS ON Churches throughout the Diocese will open every Friday night between 7pm and 8pm in Lent. THE LIGHTS ARE ON to welcome families into the Church. Come in for a moment of prayer or simply savour some quiet time as a family in a place of peace. You can stay for 5 minutes or the whole hour! URGENT: CANTEEN CO-ORDINATING TEAM The canteen will not open as planned this Friday There has been no response to the call for a co-ordinating team. We are exploring some other options for the canteen, but that will take time. In the meantime we are looking at options for simplifying canteen operation including offering over-the-counter sales at lunchtime only or only offering lunch order only service. We will keep you informed. COMING EVENTS North Shore Cluster Swimming Open Day - 9am - 11am Broken Bay Cluster Swimming Tuesday 6th March Wednesday 7th March Thursday 8th March. Every Junior team will require a coach and a manager, so please do send an email now to cchawks10@gmail.com if you would be keen or happy to help out. We can t do it without your help. There is also an Over 35 men s team registration process is the same as for the Junior players.
