All of the girls played extremely well and I would like to wish them good luck in their tournament tomorrow. Thank you to Mrs Duggan for coaching the team and the parents who cheered them on. Our Under 10 boys football team also played yesterday afternoon, taking part in a tournament at St Joseph s school. The boys did extremely well and reached the semi-final where they narrowly lost in extra time. I would like to thank Mr Thornhill and Mr Walters for working with the team and to the parents who were so supportive, especially given that our good run meant we were so late returning to school. Library We have a range of new fiction books in our school library, please encourage your child to come and have a look at the new selection. The Library opening times are: Tuesday 1.00 1.30pm and Friday 12.30 1.00pm. A team of parent volunteers also kindly give up their time to open the library after school on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday, please pop in if you would like to borrow a book. We look forward to welcoming you all. Sporting fixtures and trips We have a large number of fixtures and trips this term. Thank you for your support. Cases of head lice Please be aware we have had reports of head lice in school. Would you check your child s head this weekend and deal with them if necessary. Thank you. Governor corner Following our recent parents evening survey, please find a message below from Katharine Edgar, one of our governors. School vision and five-year development plan I was delighted to meet so many parents at the recent parents' evenings and to receive your ideas on the next stage of the school's development. It was most heart-warming to read the many positive comments about our school included in your responses and also to learn about your aspirations for your own children and the school over the next few years. I would like to thank all those of you who took the time to complete the survey and share your thoughts. There was much agreement in the ideas and themes arising from my sessions with our headteacher, the staff, children, governors and your survey responses. This has shown that everyone shares a vision for how the school can further develop under the banner of 'Inspire, Enable, Achieve'. Over the next few months, the staff and governors will take the ideas and themes generated and create a series of aims together with a five year plan for how these aims will be delivered. Our target is to publish the plan in September and to review it on an annual basis to reassess priorities and ensure the school continues to drive forwards to ensure that every child and member of staff is fulfilled, happy and exceeds their potential whilst attending our school. Katharine Edgar Community governor Governor election Attached below is information about a Parent Governor vacancy. If you are interested in putting yourself forward for this role and would like further information, please contact me. I look forward to hearing from you. Kind regards Miss Rebecca Campbell Headteacher

No formal qualifications are required; you just need common sense, time, enthusiasm and a commitment to working as part of a team to make a difference for all the children at our School. Being a school governor can provide an opportunity to develop a wide range of transferable skills. As a guide, being a school governor would take up 6 8 hours a month of your time. The term of office is 4 years. We are keen to recruit parents and carers coming from all walks of life and representing all groups in our School community. You can find out more about the role by contacting the Headteacher, Rebecca Campbell, by contacting the School Office on (01494) 713000 or by email office@holmergreen-jun.bucks.sch.uk Parents who are nominated for election must be proposed and seconded in writing, with nominations being signed by the proposer and seconder; the person nominated must also state in writing that he or she is willing to stand for election. Those eligible to stand are the parents or carers of pupils who are currently registered pupils at this school. The proposer and seconder must also have a child currently in attendance at the school. A person who works at the school for more than 500 hours in a consecutive twelve month period or who is an elected member of the Local Authority is not eligible to be a parent governor.

The term of office will be for a period of 4 years and this will start on 10/5/15. A parent whose child leaves the school may continue as a parent governor until the end of their term of office, if he or she so wishes. Nominations should be sent to me within the next two weeks, that is before the closing date for nominations which is 1 May 2015. If there is only one parent nominated, they will of course be elected unopposed, but if there are more candidates than vacancies, a postal ballot will be held. The ballot will be entirely secret and a further letter about the arrangements will be sent to you. All parents whose child/children attend this school will be entitled to vote in the postal ballot and voting will be on the basis of one vote per parent/carer per place available. Before the ballot takes place we would hope to arrange a meeting when parents would have an opportunity to meet the candidates who have been nominated for election. We would also circulate information from the candidates to all parents, for the benefit of the parents who may be unable to attend this meeting. If it proves impossible to fill the vacancy, the Governing Body has the right to make an appointment in order to fill the required number of parent governor places on the Governing Body. If the need to do this arises, the Governing Body would first of all consider appointing a parent who has a child on roll at the school, followed by consideration of parents of former pupils, and finally parents of a schoolaged child not necessarily a registered pupil at this school. Please note that governors will be required to complete a Declaration Form to confirm they are not disqualified from being a governor. Prospective governors should also note that the School has a Close Personal Relationships Policy and therefore they should not become a governor if they have a close personal relationship with a member of staff at the same school. Parents may be interested in the overall constitution of the Governing Body, which is as follows: One local authority governor nominated by Bucks CC and appointed by Governing Body Seven co-opted governors appointed by the Governing Body as a whole Two parent governors One staff governor, elected by other staff at the school One headteacher The name of the successful candidate will be made available as soon as the appointment has been finalised. I enclose a tear-off slip for use in the nominating procedure for parent governors which parents may find useful, but a separate nomination letter is just as acceptable. Please return the slip or letter by 8 May 2015. Yours sincerely Miss Rebecca Campbell HEADTEACHER
