How many applications should you submit? An average about 5 is what we usually see It varies by student! Some apply to ONE, some apply to many. Don t forget.many schools require an application feeapproximately $50

To Complete Applications Apply on-line Request transcript using paper MV Transcript Request Form and through Naviance Refer to unofficial transcript for self reporting schools Request an official ACT and/or SAT report to be sent to each school, unless you already did so at the time of the test
Self Reporting Grades Yes!! This is true! Some schools do NOT require that a transcript is sent with the application. A final transcript will need to be sent at the end of the year for verification Be VERY careful to report exactly what is on your transcript. Complete MV Transcript Request Form
Submitting Applications Complete MV Transcript Request Form Take your transcript request form to the Senior House after you ve completed your application AND requested transcript(s) through Naviance. You are responsible for sending the application fee directly to Admissions if you did not pay online.
Submitting Applications If any application materials need to be mailed Attach a stamped addressed envelope using MVHS as return address (include plenty of postage) if transcripts are accepted Counselor will complete necessary paperwork Secretary will add transcript and mail the application
Letters of Recommendation Allow 2-3 weeks when asking for a letter Fill out the Student Information for Recommendation Letters Form to give to the writer(s) (form is available in the House & on Naviance) Provide the recommender with an addressed, stamped envelope, so the letter can be mailed directly to the college. For COMMON APP-recs are sent electronically through commonapp.org
Mid-Year Reports Not required by most schools Includes your 7 th semester transcript Turn in a transcript request form and request in Naviance in January.
APPLICATION FOLLOW-UP Check the status of your application on the college s web site. Check to see that your transcript was sent on Naviance Allow 3-4 weeks for the college to acknowledge receipt of application and/or transcript. If you have questions, call the Admissions Office BE PATIENT!

College Visits 1. There is no substitute for seeing a college yourself! 2. Call admission s office or go on-line to set up a college tour 3. If possible: sit in on a class, have a meal in the cafeteria, stay overnight, talk to as many students as possible 4. Go prepared to ask questions!
