Rules and Regulations for Yr11 Mock GCSE Exams NB: All Yr11 MUST attend the exams briefing at 12.10pm (per 5) in the hall on Weds. 5 th Dec. There are NO exceptions to this! Thursday 13 th December is INSET day, but your exams will still take place and you are expected to wear normal school uniform 1) All students should be ready to enter the hall at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start time of all exams. Make sure you do not have any notes in your pockets or writing on your hands or arms (or anywhere else for that matter!). There is not a seat plan to follow but I strongly recommend that you do not sit near to a friend that you may be tempted to talk to or make contact with. 2) No mobile phones allowed in the exam hall/room at any time! These must be switched off, and either left in your locker or bag, or handed in to the school office in your personal valuables bag or a named envelope, before entering the exam hall. This also applies to ipods and MP3/MP4 players. Due to so many rules regarding different types of prohibited watches, we have a ruling that NO WATCHES are allowed in the exams hall. You must remove labels from drinking bottles and wrappers from all sweets and snacks. 3) No facial hair/jewellery/ear studs allowed. School uniform must be worn, as for a normal school day, for all exams, including Art. Lab coats or aprons must be worn for your Art exams, & remember to take your sketchbooks & prep books. DT: remember your coloured pencils and fine line pen. 4) Bags and coats must be left in the two recessed areas in the corridor behind the stage (opposite the Headmaster s office and the photocopying room), and not in any other corridor. All pens, pencils, calculator, compass, 30cms ruler, protractors etc. should be in a see-through pencil case or clear plastic bag. When a calculator is needed for an exam you must leave the lid or case in your bag and only take the actual calculator into the exam room. If the exam does not require the use of a calculator you must leave it in your bag away from the exam room. Read the attached info regarding calculators. Remember to bring all equipment to school in readiness for every exam. Read the standard equipment for exams list that is attached to this timetable and which can also be found on the school website. NB: Black biros or black ink only, and you must not use gel pens, corrector fluid or corrector pens. We do not generally lend equipment that you have forgotten. 5) The invigilator will instruct you to place spectacle cases, maths instrument cases and any rubber charity bracelets under your desk, so please be sure to do this. Remember to take these items with you at the end of your exam. 6) When you leave the exam hall you must do so in silence, as there may be some students still working, and there will also be lessons taking place as normal in the rest of the school. You should not leave until the invigilators have given you permission to do so. Do not write or draw on your desk, and please quietly straighten your desk and tuck your chair under it before leaving the hall. 7) Note that the Art & Photography exam will be in room 62 and 63 (6 th and 7 th Dec.). 8) Check the notice outside the Exams Office daily (above the grey post box) for a list of rooms that are available if you wish to do quiet revision between exams. Break and lunch break will be at the normal times. 9) Be sure you read the instructions regarding the fire regulation procedure.

10) If you are ill and unable to attend an exam, please ask someone to telephone the school office as early as possible on 020 8642 3821. Likewise, if you are running late, you must call the office to advise us of this. You should however, leave home extra early when you have an exam in order to avoid this happening. If you miss an exam for any reason, you must see your subject teacher or Head of Subject as quickly as possible, to try to arrange a time when you can sit any missed papers. Be warned: if you are late for an exam you will not have any time added on at the end. Your exam will finish at the same time as all the other students who started at the correct time. 11) Please do not book any medical or dental appointments during the run of the exams. 12) If you need to contact us for any reason, you can call our direct line 020 8661 4534, or email us at exams@suttongrammar.sutton.sch.uk 13) Please revise carefully and thoroughly and treat your mocks seriously as they provide you with the best possible practice & preparation for the real thing. 14) Normal registration and timetable resumes after lunch break on Thursday 20 th December. Good luck to you all, Mrs J Pelling and Ms L Mellor Examinations Officers
