Dear Parents and Friends of Henry Ford II: It is hard to believe that Open House is already a distant memory and Homecoming is fast approaching. Progress Reports will no longer be distributed to students. Please know that if you have a PowerSchool log-in you have access to an updated Progress Report for your student 24 hours a day 7 days a week. In PowerSchool you also have up-todate attendance for your student and the ability to email a teacher directly with questions about grades and attendance. If you do not already have a PowerSchool log-in or have forgotten your log-in from last year, please contact Denise in the front office to get an updated password. I would like to take the time to welcome all of our new staff to Ford this fall. New teaching staff and what they teach: Jamie Cushman -- Math Michele Johnston -- Special Education Edward Krawczuk -- Science Angela Melton -- Business & Health Heidi Radnick -- Special Education Catherine Schreiber -- Special Education Please welcome our new teachers to Ford. They are committed to our vision of improving student achievement through delivering quality daily instruction. I am proud to announce that Henry Ford II High School is still among the highest performing schools in Macomb County. Our SAT composite score was a 1067.5. The state has transitioned from the ACT to the SAT and I am proud of the hard work of our students and dedication of our staff to implement the new assessment system. Our goal is to make every student college ready by earning a score of 480 on the Evidence-Based Reading and Writing and a 530 on the Math sections of the SAT. We are over half-way to our goal and as a staff we are always looking for new strategies and activities to help all students learn. Last year we had 747 AP tests taken. I am pleased to The mission of Henry Ford II High School is to involve family, school, and community to educate our students through a supportive environment and a stimulating curriculum.

From the principal (continued) announce that we had more students taking AP classes than the previous year and 366 of our students earned college credit by scoring a 3, 4, or 5 on the test. This score is also up from the previous year. More students taking AP, means more students earning college credit, showing that we offer a range of AP classes for all students. Students who take an AP class and earn a 3, 4, or 5 are five times more likely to graduate from college than their counter parts who didn t take an AP class. The data is clear, if we push kids to take an AP class, they can pass it and earn college credit making a student college ready as they graduate. The PSAT-NMSQT test date for juniors is October 14, 2017. This test helps to identify students that may qualify for National Merit Scholarships. Parent/Teacher conferences will be October 12th at 11:30 2:30 pm and 4:00-8:00pm. Report Cards will not be printed for conferences, so please use PowerSchool for your student(s) information. With PowerSchool you have access to your student s report card the minute they are posted. If your student has fallen below a C- in a class, please consider using STRIVE tutoring as a free resource to help your student improve. STRIVE tutoring is available to all students Tuesday through Thursday from 2:15 3:15 in the Media Center. We have teachers and student tutors available to assist your student. Additionally, on Mondays, STRIVE is available with computers only. If students need access to the technology in the Media Center, they are welcome to stay on Mondays. Friday, October 27th at 9:00 a.m. is our monthly Parent/Principal Advisory meetings. Please, join us in the Principal s conference room. This is a time to get updates on the happenings here at school and share information with me. The meetings are kept to one hour. We are off to a great start.
