Principal s Report Welcome back to term 4. It was great to see the excitement of students catching up with their friends and sharing what they had been up to over the holidays. It was lovely to have some warmer weather for the start of the term. As part of our Sun Smart agreement students need to have a hat in both term 1 and 4. NO HAT NO PLAY. We need to ask that all students have their NAME clearly marked on their hat. Also as me move into the final part of the year I again remind students that they still need to be in school uniform. For Grade 6 families that do not want to purchase new uniforms, we still require your child to be in navy shirt and navy or black shorts. If your child is out of uniform without a note, they will be in detention. Also it is timely to remind parents that our uniform policy states that children are not permitted to have coloured hair. Assembly With swimming starting this week we are going to change assembly to Fridays and present Student of the Week then. We welcome parents to come and join in our assembly on Friday mornings at 9am in the undercover area. starts on Monday 15 th October. If your child still has not returned their swimming permission note or money for swimming they will not be able to participate until we have received it. A reminder that Grade 1 students have their swimming each Thursday instead of Mondays. Regional Athletics We wish Violet and Olivia good luck on Monday in Bendigo at Regional Athletics. School lunches Currently we are not having any BBQ or Dim Sims /Noodles and thank those families who did volunteer their time to help out. We are hoping to get some of our senior students to look into organising lunch on Thursday and a note will come out regarding this when we know more. We have again attached a copy of the shop price list for families. Choir We thank Rhian for offering to come in on a Monday recess to take Choir, it will be great to have this program running again. Looking forward to our final term and continuing to work with our families and students. Wonderful Kids go to Woorinen District Kristie Bennett (Principal) Students of the Week 17th September Congratulations this week go to Grade Prep Nino Grade 1 Byron Grade 2 Joaquin Grades 3/4 Jarrah Grades 5/6 Ethan

GOOD LUCK We wish Olivia and Violet all the best next Monday 15th October at the Regional Athletics in Bendigo. Olivia is competing in hurdles and both girls are competing in the Relay. We know they will do us proud. Our swimming program is commencing next Monday the 15th October at the Swan Hill Leisure Centre. Students will be going in groups with the bus being driven by Mrs Beasy. This year our lessons will be run by Mrs Beasy, Mrs Barb and Miss Maddi. The cost this year will be $25 per student which includes the bus, the pool and the lessons for 7 weeks. The lessons will run for 7 weeks on a Monday and Thursday. The Prep, 2,3,4,5,& 6 students will be on a Monday and Grade 1 students on a Thursday. The grade 5/6 students on Monday and the grade 1 students on Thursday are to wear their bathers under their school clothes (please don t forget to pack underwear). The other students are to bring their bathers and get changed at school. It is a great idea to wear a Our School Captains Emilie & Ethan dressing gown if your child has one or send an extra jumper (other than their school jumper as it could get wet) for them to wear to and from the pool in case it is cool. Also students will need to bring slip on shoes to wear to the pool such as thongs, crocs, sandals. These are not to be worn all day, just for swimming. It is very tricky for students to put sneakers on after swimming. Goggles are a great idea as the water can be quite stinging on eyes. If you have some at home please bring them with you. We won t have spares available like last year. There are only a few notes outstanding. These need to be returned before you child can participate in swimming. NO HAT, NO PLAY.

GRADE 1 READING The Grade One students this week did their reading session out in the Sensory Garden as it was a lovely day. ZOOPER DOOPERS As the weather is warming up we are again offering FRUIT Zooper Doopers for students to purchase at lunch time. These are 50 cents each. Students bring their money in the mornings and get it put on the board. Not on board-no ZOOPER DOOPER PORTSEA CAMP Any child that would like to attend please contact: Nola Cook: 0477017754 Di Johnson: 50376097 Camp dates: 11th-17th January, 2019 Price: $327 per child Ages: 9-12 yrs only

Scholastic Book Fair Our next book fair will be held at school from Monday 29th October to Friday 2nd November. The fair will be open from 8:30am until 4:00pm. If we sell over $1000 worth we receive 30% to buy books for school. Our previous Book Fair earlier this year was amazing and we got some new books for our Library and some new equipment as well. This is a great opportunity to start Christmas shopping. The Book Fair will be held in the Learning Centre. Flyer is attached in today s Newsletter. Breakfast Club Roster Term 4 Volunteers required for Term 4. Thank you to everyone that has helped out throughout the year. **Please note noodles / Dims Sims and Sausage sizzle has finished for the year.
