Four Year Transfers
Four Year Transfer Things to keep in mind: What sport are they? If basketball or baseball then residency requirement may be required (check Bylaw 14.5.5.2.10 for baseball exceptions). Do they have transfer release/permission to contact letter? This is required for any Division I, II, III or NAIA student. PSA does not need one if they are attending a foreign institution. If current school will not provide one then PSA can still transfer but s/he will need to do a residency requirement and be ineligible for athletics aid. What academic year are they/will they transfer in as? This will assist in determining if they have an unmet residency requirement (e.g., NLI) and what continuing eligibility requirements apply (e.g., %). Bylaws 14.5.5.2.10, 13.1.1.3 and 14.4
Four Year Transfer More Things to keep in mind: When are they transferring in? This will assist in determining if they have an unmet residency requirement (e.g., NLI) and/or need to sit the spring semester if they are basketball or baseball. In tennis, if the PSA transfers mid-year and competed that fall or received athletics aid from their current school they are ineligible for competition during spring semester. Do they meet a transfer exception? This will assist in determining if they have to do a residency requirement. Can they receive athletics aid? PSA must have been eligible at their previous school in order to receive athletics aid at GW during their first academic year. Bylaws 14.5.5.5, 14.5.5.3.1,14.5.5.2 and 14.5.5.4
Four Year Transfer More Things to keep in mind: Will the PSA transfer in as a graduate student? If yes, then must meet 14.6.1 in order to not sit a residency requirement: 1. Must be enrolled in graduate program (T certificate); 2. Must meet remaining conditions of 14.5.5.2.10; (e.g., first transfer) 3. PSA has at least one (1) season of eligibility remaining; and 4. Previous school did not renew his/her athletics aid for following academic year. Bylaw 14.6.1
Two-Year Transfers
Two-Year Transfer Things to keep in mind: What is their academic qualifier status? Qualifier At their two-year school, did they: Complete at least one semester or quarter as a full-time student? Summer school does not count. Complete an average of 12 transferable credit hours in each term they attended full time? Earn a GPA of 2.500 in those transferable credit hours? If to all they can practice, receive athletics aid and compete upon transfer.** If to any then they can practice and receive athletics aid upon transfer. They cannot compete until they complete a residency requirement. **Baseball/basketball mid-year transfers will need to sit for the spring semester. Bylaw 14.5.4.1
Two-Year Transfer Nonqualifier At their two-year school, did they: 1. Graduate from the two-year school? 2. Complete at least three semesters or four quarters as a full-time student? Summer school does not count. 3. Complete 48 transferable semester credit hours?* Transferable credit hours must include all the following subjects: English: six semester hours or eight quarter hours Math: three semester hours or four quarter hours Natural/physical science: three semester hours or four quarter hours 4. Earn a GPA of 2.500 in those transferable credit hours? If to all they can practice, receive athletics aid and compete upon transfer.** If to 1, 2, and 3, to 4 and GPA is 2.00-2.49 they can practice and get athletics aid upon transfer. They cannot compete until they complete a residency requirement. If to any then they cannot practice, receive athletics aid or compete until they complete a residency requirement. **Baseball/basketball mid-year transfers will need to sit for the spring semester. Two Year Transfer Academic Redshirt At their two-year school, did they: 1.Graduate from the two-year school? 2.Complete at least three semesters or four quarters as a full-time student? Summer school does not count. 3.Complete 48 transferable semester credit hours?* 4.Earn a GPA of 2.500 in those transferable credit hours? If to all they can practice, receive athletics aid and compete upon transfer.** If to any then they can practice and receive athletics aid upon transfer. Mid-Year Transfer Scenario 1: Baseball SA is in his 1 st full-time semester of enrollment at 2-yr institution, fall 2016. Eligibility Center certified SA as a Qualifier post H.S. graduation, spring 2016. The SA wants to enroll at GW this spring 2017 semester. Will the SA eligible for practice, competition and/or athletics aid upon enrollment at GW for spring 2017?

Is this SA eligible for practice, competition and or athletic aid upon enrollment at GW for spring 2017?
