Headteacher s contribution to Newsletter Dear Parents and Carers Thank you to those parents of Year 2 children for attending our SATs Information Evening this week. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask us. Thanks too to everyone who joined us for our Spring Concert on Tuesday. It was wonderful for our Year 5 children to showcase their achievements in learning the violin. Well done to all those pupils who participated in Playtastic and singing, we are very proud of you! The highly anticipated reopening of our school library will take place on World Book Day, Thursday 1st March. I know staff and children alike will be eager to see how the space has been refurbished and will be excited to start using it again. In addition, pupils will be taking part in lots of fun activities throughout the day based around our whole school focus text Grendel: A cautionary tale about chocolate. From the work created, we hope to have some new colourful displays around school. We will also be holding a whole school Drop Everything and Read (D.E.A.R) competition. Over the half term we are encouraging the children to drop everything and read in the most unusual places they can think of. We are asking that you take a photo of your child and either print it out or email it into school through office@keresleynewland.netacademies.net. The deadline for entries will be Tuesday 27th February. The winner from each year group will be announced in our World Book Day assembly and will receive a 5 book voucher. We still need to focus on our weekly attendance target, which has again fallen short of the national expectation of 95%. We will be announcing some important changes to our attendance monitoring and responses to unauthorised holidays after half term. Thank you for your continued support and may I take this opportunity to wish you a restful and relaxing half term break. We look forward to seeing you at 8.50am on Monday 26th February! All good wishes Mrs Fiona Hims Headteacher 2
