Standard of Quality #6 Learner Support and Retention: Program helps learners persist in their learning until they reach their educational goals. 3
Standard #6: Learner Support and Retention 6.1 Program helps learners identify and understand the positive and negative forces that impact their persistence and provides resources to help learners build support and reduce barriers. 6.2 Program offers services in a supportive environment that helps learners build community and self-efficacy. Standard #6: Learner Support and Retention 6.3 Program provides instruction of sufficient intensity and duration to enable learners to achieve substantial learning gains and to posttest at intervals outlined in CDE/AEFL assessment policy. Program offers scheduling options. 6.4 Program discerns reasons for learner absences. Program has a process for contacting learners who are not attending. Program addresses program factors that contribute to learner absences or dropping out. 4

Additional Standard of Quality Program Design and Leadership Capacity and Sustainability Learner Orientation and Enrollment Curriculum Instruction Teacher Observation Review of CPI Process Local program conducts Standards of Quality Self-Review for Standard #6 and prepares an Action Plan. Local program completes a Self-Review of a second standard of their choice. CDE consultant visits the program to offer technical assistance for the Action Plan. 7
