Course Selection Form Recommended Courses English: Social Studies: Math: Science: Selections YOU Make Electives: Fill up 2 yearlong spots, 4 semester or a combination of year long and semester long. PE: Chose PE - 9 unless you will be a HHS athlete. (Athletes can chose Adv. Strength & Conditioning) Health: Semester long- taken the opposite semester of PE Alternative Electives: LIST backup options You will not be allowed to submit your classes through online registration without picking 3 alternates.

Changes to your recommendations Use the Placement Appeal/Change Request Form Freshman Academy Page-Course Selection tab Use this to move up or down a level Moving up? Get feedback from teacher. After completing the online form, download the paper version to be completed and returned to the Freshman Academy No level changes will be made until both steps are completed
Thinking Ahead! Summer School: Incoming Freshmen can take Personal Finance or Consumer Education. Priority will be given to current HHS students. This will allow for extra electives SOPHOMORE year. Summer School information regarding dates, etc. will be on the HHS website & the Counseling Department website soon. Driver s Education: It is not offered to Freshmen- can take it through HHS the summer between Freshman and Sophomore year. Provided student meets criteria to take the class- see course catalog for details.

Blended Learning
Blended Learning what is it? Taught by HHS teachers Class that provides a combination of online and classroom activities Allows students more flexibility and control over when they learn as well as how they learn
What does a typical class look like? Begin the school year meeting every day Gradually released 2-3 days a week for online work Meet as a traditional class 2-3 days a week
Blended..What if I am not being successful in the class? If the student has a D or F in the class, they are required to go to class everyday until grade is proficient
Where are students during Blended days? HUB Commons area In Class with the teacher Working with another teacher who might be free Students are allowed to leave the building during the blended period

When you view recommendations in Power School, if the course has a blended offering, you will see that option as well as traditional open for you to select. You will choose one or the other.
Choose Wisely! Students may not drop a blended class until the semester

What is an Academy? Exposure to opportunities while students are still in high school Classes focused on student interest Exposure to the career field
What is an Academy? Academic coursework Classes focused on a specific theme Coursework includes classes in that specific field as well as other alternate classes that support work in the Academy field Extracurricular opportunities Job shadow opportunities Field experience
Applying into the Academy The application process for Academies begins during the sophomore year Before applying, you must be enrolled in or have taken at least 1 class in that Academy Information will be on website and emails will be sent to parents as well
What Do I Need To Do Now? Do you have to take a class freshman year? No, but we recommend it Capstone classes Look at your 4 year plan Look at the Points Checklist for the Academy Look at ALL elective courses HHS offers
