Our students represented our school with great sportsmanship and team work on the day. We congratulate all who took part and are delighted and excited to announce that our team has progressed to the Regional Finals. To our Netball Teams who enjoyed a fantastic tournament last Monday at Knox Regional Centre. Again the behaviour was exemplary from all of our students representing the school with many wins and losses on the day. Congratulations on the great determination and resilience shown by all our Netball players on the day. To our students who entered and participated in the Science Talent Search. Community AGTV German Poetry Competition Notices Mount Waverley North NEWS Aspire Believe Achieve On Tuesday August 7 th a selected group of students from Years 4, 5 and 6 competed in the AGTV German Poetry Competition at Amsleigh Park Primary School. Students learnt a German poem by heart, and recited it to a panel of judges. This was a great opportunity for students, not only to speak German outside of the classroom, but also to meet students of German from other schools in the area. A huge congratulations to all students who participated: Rachel D, Divya, Trinity, Amanda, Yash, Iris, Sanya, Ananya, Lavanya, Grace, Ella C and Husna. Your effort and enthusiasm when learning and practising your poems should be congratulated. Results from our school: Divya (Grade 4 3 rd place) Yash (Grade 5 1 st place) Iris (Grade 5 2 nd place) Ella C (Grade 6 Honourable Mention) Swimming Carnival A wonderful day was enjoyed by our Year 3-6 students on Monday, 30 th July at Huntingtower Sports and Aquatics Centre for our annual Swimming Carnival. Students demonstrated great improvements in their swimming abilities following the Year 3-6 Swimming Program over the prior two weeks. At the carnival, students completed across a range of individual and relay events, with the final results as follows: 1 st : Lechte 2 nd : Barry 3 rd : Coleman 4 th : Muir A big thank you to our Parent helpers for helping the event run smoothly on the day, and to our staff for all their efforts in putting the day together. Traffic Around the School A serious reminder to all families regarding the safety on the roads around our school. Over the last few weeks I have received numerous complaints regarding the parking, obstruction and unsafe nature of the drivers dropping children to and from our school. I have witnessed this first hand over the last few days and am genuinely concerned regarding the conduct of drivers and the safety of our students. Please obey all road rules, parking restrictions and drive safely around the local school roads. Please do not mount the nature strips with your vehicle, and do not open the school car park gates. Cars must be parked and stationery before a child enters and exits a vehicle. Children should only exit a vehicle directly on to the nature strip. Mount Waverley Police Station have been contacted regarding poor driving behaviour and continue to patrol the local streets. Thank you for your support with this matter.

Mount Waverley North NEWS Aspire Believe Achieve PFA - Thank You Thank you to all of those who helped and supported the recent PFA Pizza Lunch. It was a great success with fantastic feedback from both students and parents. Father s Day Stall Our Father s Day Stall will be held across Thursday 30 th August and Friday 31 st August and provides an opportunity for students to purchase a special gift for their father or special person. Legacy We are proud to support the wonderful work of Legacy by fundraising in support of a great cause. Items for sale include wristbands, pens, stickers and badges. Our School Captains will be visiting each classroom over the coming week to provide an opportunity to purchase, and purchases can also be made at the school office before or after school. Parent Opinion Survey If you received an email in the last few weeks with a link to complete the Parent Opinion Survey we encourage you to do so to provide us with your feedback. Approximately 30% of our parents and carers within the school community were randomly chosen to allow us to hear the voice of our community. It gives great affirmation of the things we are doing well and also the things we can improve on. As a school we always welcome feedback. Thank you to those who have already completed the survey. School Performances All students throughout the school are excitedly preparing for our upcoming School Performances which will take place later this term. Prep: Years 1&2: Years 3-6: The Three Billy Goats Gruff Eddie the Penguin Saves the World The Wizard of Oz Stay tuned for more details on dates and ticket sales over the coming weeks. All students throughout the school are performing in these productions and are therefore expected to attend on the evening of the performance. School Open Day Saturday 25 th August, 10am-12pm We look forward to welcoming new and prospective parents to our next School Open Day, to be held on Saturday, 25 th August, from 10am-12pm. Our last school open day was well attended, and this is another great opportunity to explore the school environment and meet some of our wonderful teachers. Natalie Grieve and Andrew James
