Diploma of Business CRICOS Code: 088194B A Diploma of Business qualification can lead to a variety of opportunities in today s global economy including the public service, education, health, manufacturing, service, e-commerce, mining and retail industries. Course Outline The Diploma of Business course is designed to provide a study option for students who either do not seek, or are unable to commit to the time required to complete a three-year undergraduate degree. As well as having value in its own right, students who successfully complete the diploma can be admitted to the second year of either the Bachelor of Business and Bachelor of Business (Accounting) degrees with full credit reducing the time required for degree completion to only two years. BLOCK DELIVERY Instead of worrying about juggling multiple loads of assignments and exams, students can now study without hassle and gain a valuable work experience with an Ozford Internship placement. 1 Semester = 2 Blocks Block 1 Unit 1 Unit 2 Focus on 2 units only Block 2 Unit 3 Unit 4 Focus on 2 units only BETTER FOCUS TIME MANAGEMENT UNDERSTANDING How it works The traditional 14 week trimester will be delivered in two blocks of 7 weeks (6 weeks of teaching and 1 week of exam.) Instead of studying 4 units in one semester, students will study only 2 units at a time for the first block (weeks 1 7) and then start 2 more units in the second block (weeks 8 14) during the first year. Each block of teaching will run for 6 weeks followed by a week of exams before the next 2 units are added to the student s study. BETTER OUTCOME DEGREE LEVEL ASSESSMENT Assessment methods used in each course will vary depending on the individual unit of study. Generally assessment will comprise one or more of the following methods with different percentage weightings applied to each with a sum total of 100%: Class Test Online Test or Quiz Written Assignment Oral Class Presentation Examination For example the unit, the Marketing Principles (MKT1100) unit is assessed through: Quiz 10% Class Test 15% Group Assignment (2500 words written) 20% Class presentation (Individual class Presentation based on group assignment) 5% Examination (All topics; 3 hours duration) 50% 8

ORIENTATION AND TRANSITION SUPPORT As a new student, you will be welcomed with an orientation program during your first week at Ozford. The orientation program involves familiarisation with living and studying in Melbourne and Ozford, and an opportunity for social interaction with new and current students. SPECIALISED JOB AND CAREER CENTRE Ozford recognises that supporting our students in developing their career goals is an integral part of their learning journey. We provide an on-campus Job Ready Training program and placement for all students. The training program provides students with guidance about the job application process, résumé writing, interview techniques and employment updates. Individual appointments can also be organised for students to meet the Student Success Coach for personalised support. OZFORD LANGUAGE LOUNGE We offer our students free conversation and pronunciation classes which are designed to improve speaking skills. These classes focus on Real-life conversations, native pronunciation, and music in English. Students can join any of the free weekly classes. ACCOMMODATION ARRANGEMENT Ozford can arrange homestay accommodation according to your preferences. Living in a homestay is a great way to learn about the local culture and lifestyle, and to improve your English. FLEXIBLE PAYMENT OPTIONS Ozford provides flexible payment options to suit your financial needs. Feel free to discuss your needs with the on-campus Accounts Officer. AIRPORT PICK-UP SERVICES Ozford can arrange for students to be met at the airport and taken to their accommodation. EVENTS AND RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES Melbourne is a wonderful city packed with events and activities such as arts and cultural festivals, live music, exhibitions, theatre shows, sports and clubs for students. Ozford actively promotes and encourages students to explore the range of events and activities. Ozford also offers discounted onsite gym membership for students. ACADEMIC SUPPORT Ozford staff will support you academically throughout your time with us and will do everything possible to help you excel and maximise your potential.this is particulary important for international students in helping them to adjust to studying in Australia. Students can make an appointment to see an academic advisor or alternatively, students are welcome to make arrangements with their teachers, trainers or lecturers. COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT Ozford in partnership with a number of not-forprofit organisations offers students the opportunity to contribute to the community in a number of ways. Students have the chance to participate in the promotion of various great causes, fund-raising opportunities and events. MEDICAL AND HEALTH COVER Ozford can arrange Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) on your behalf. OSHC provides you with the peace of mind that you have access to medical services to help you maintain your health and wellbeing. Students can request this service at the time of application. You can collect the OSHC card from our Enrolment Officer after orientation day. LIBRARY SERVICES Ozford Library is the one-stop student resource centre. You can borrow books, CDs, DVDs and many other resources to help with your studies. The library is also the perfect place for students who would like a quiet space for research and preparing assignments. STUDENT WELLBEING AND PERSONAL COUNSELLING At Ozford, your welfare is our priority. We aim to create a safe and caring environment while providing opportunities for students to enjoy their study life. Students who are aged under 18 require special attention and care. Regular updates are provided to parents, carers and homestays regarding student performance. Students experiencing difficulties associated with personal matters are welcome to discuss any issues with the Student Welfare Officer. The Student Welfare Officer works with other professional agencies to address student needs and can refer students to external support. 1 Your application HOW TO APPLY Read the Ozford Institute of Higher Education brochure, course information, pre-enrolment information and terms & conditions of enrolment www.ozford.edu.au/higher-education/ Complete our ONLINE Application via http://soeac.ozford.edu.au/student/apply Upload the certified/notarised supporting documentation required in English with the application (please refer to the application check list) Application assessment 2 Upon receiving your application, Ozford Institute of Higher Education will assess the application according to the admissions policies. Student may be required to attend the Genuine Temporary Entrants (GTE) interview at this stage. Student may be requested to submit additional documentation Offer letter 3 You will be provided with a written Offer Letter and Student Acceptance Agreement if your application is successful and this will generally take 4 1 to 3 working days for Ozford Institute of Higher Education programs. Pathway applications may take approximately 2 to 4 weeks. Accepting offer To accept the offer, sign the Student Acceptance Agreement Complete the Homestay and Airport Pick-up Application Form (if required). Send the above documents to Ozford Institute of Higher Education or your local education agent. 5 Making payment Make payment amount according to Student Acceptance Agreement. Please include your student ID, full name and date of birth as a reference for payment. INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS 7 8 Visa application Include the ecoe(s) with your visa application. Please consult your local education agent about visa application matters or visit the Department of Home Affairs website for more details on visa application to Australia: www.homeaffairs.gov.au Homestay and Airport Pick-up Once the visa has been granted, contact Ozford Institute of Higher Education to arrange homestay and airport pick-up services (if applicable).
