Governor s Message August has been Hot, but not just in temperature, but in the events at 1727 Moose Lodge. The Queen of Hearts continues to grow weekly and the weekly 50/50 s are growing as well. Poollooza was a success and many thanks to the volunteers, Chris McFaden and company who committed their time and energy to make it a successful event. The Frances Higginbotham Dart Tournament was also a Great success with over 45 players again many thanks to all the volunteers especially Ruthi and Richard Pietras for running the show. Many thanks to all the staff and our Sports Committee Chairman Vinnie Lipscomb for your support during each event this month. The Robert E. Owen Memorial Horseshoe Tournament was also a great success as well. With 52 pitchers involved. All proceeds were donated to the American Cancer Society. Door Prizes, a bake sale and raffles were included in this fabulous event. This makes the 7th year! We look forward to next year s event. Thank you, Cathy and your family for all of your hard work and preparations for the event. Don t forget about our Annual Picnic & End of Summer Bash. This will be on September 24th at the pavilion from 3-7pm. Food provided by Lodge including Drinks and Draft Beer. Covered Dish is welcomed. Congratulations to our Women Pool players who did very well recently in the Pool tournaments, Becky Watts, Hope Meeks, Tammy Wilson, Leslie Cudd and all of our other pool playing Ladies in our Moose Family. Please note Ladies if you re not coming to our meetings on the first and third Tuesday of EVERY month, you are missing out. Our 50/50 was won by Vickey Webber, Lock and Key was Kathy Donald, and the attendance drawing was Sarah Grigg, you can t win the MONEY if you re not there. Our Moose Volunteer for August was Sheryl Fitzgerald, thanks for all your help. We have lots of upcoming events on the books, so please step up. Our Family Activities chairman are Denise and Tony Wooldridge, they are planning an awesome Halloween event for the weekend before Halloween, which, will involve Zombies of all ages, come to the meetings to find out how you and your kids can get involved...fun< FUN< FUN!! HOLIDAY VENDOR AND CRAFT EVENT CONTRACT The Moose Lodge 1727 Fundraising Event. The majority of Vendor Fees will be donated to the children of Mooseheart Foundation. Dec. 3, 2016 from 10am 3pm Name/ Business: Moose Games will be September 17th & 18th. Assemble your teams now. You must participate in all event; Darts, Cornhole, Pool & Horseshoes. $5.00 per event per player ($40 per team) Please pre-register, if possible so we can plan ahead. 8 Ball Poollooza Big Success 60 Men and 15 Women Participated Fishing Mary Carpenter, Evonne Crebbs Hall, and Laura Greene. These three amazing ladies and I made a great team. We took 2nd place in the Women's Division of the Lynchburg Moose #1727 Poolooza Tournament! Thanks for a fun weekend! Hats are off once again. 1727 staff rocked it. We had a great turnout. Thanks to all the people behind the scenes. Also the sports chairman Vinnie Lipscomb and his help, Sandra Grogan & Kim Mcfaden. Without all working together, these tournaments would not run smoothly. The players had a great time. The lodge turned a profit. Everyone is happy. Hopefully we will do it again soon. Chris Mcfaden

MOOSE GAMES Keith & Melvin Too much Party Time?? One very happy Hippie!! Special Rules Regarding the Moose-Cup All Sport Games Each team will consist of two (2) players. Cost will be $5 per player per event ($40 per team) Each team will play ALL sports consisting of Pool, Cornhole, Horseshoes, and Darts. All events will be a best of 3 matches, Single Elimination Bracket. Medals for 1st (Gold) 2nd (Silver) and 3rd (Bronze) will be given out in each sport. Overall winner, based on cup points will receive the Moose Cup to display proudly at their lodge until the following year. Cup Bonus Points All sport brackets 5 points Win 3 points 2nd 1 point 3rd POOL (Will be shot as Scotch Doubles using Moose pool rules) 8 on the break 2 points (Under Moose pool rules this is NOT a win, 8 will be spotted) o Break and run 2 points Darts (Will be Shot as Chicago 501/Cricket/Choice if needed) o During Cricket Game: 9 count (All Darts in a triple) - 2 points o During 01 Games: 101-179 scored - 1 point 180 scored - 2 points o Any Hat Trick (3 Darts in Bull) - 1 point Moose Bags (Corn Hole) o 3 Bag Drop - 1 point o 4 Bag Drop - 2 points Horseshoes o 2 Ringer - 2 points These points will have nothing to do with the winner for each individual sport bracket. These points will only be used to help determine the overall winner of the Moose- Cup In case of a tie we will look at the points scored in each event. If both teams scored the most points in a single event, then that will be the game for the shootout.
