Friday 12th October 2018 FOOTBALL FOCUS Dove Valley Football Tournament SCHOOL CHOIR Year 4 to 6 Monday 3rd December 2018 On Monday 3 rd December, the children of Yoxall St Peter s will join a choir of 250 children, representing the other schools in the JTMAT, to be held at the John Taylor Free School. The event is open to children from years 4 to 6. On Thursday evening, the boys played Moseley Academy and won 4-0. The boys played very well as a team and continue to do us proud every week. We currently stand unbeaten in the league; long may it continue! Next week sees us face Thomas Russell Juniors on Wednesday 17th October at 3:45. Well done boys! Our next match is a home match, on the school playing fields 3.45 Wednesday 17th October. RECEPTION/YEAR 1 PARENTS We will be displaying the sounds that Reception and Year 1 are learning in phonics that week on the outside door of Class 1. Please have a look on your way in or out of school to help you practise with your child. To ensure that as many families as possible have access to the event, there will be two performances of this concert, the first being at 5pm 6pm and the second at 7pm-8pm. Two tickets per child will be allocated. There will be a nominal fee for each ticket ( 3) which will go towards a final donation to the charity of St Giles Hospice. The JTHS school band will be playing and they will play the music for traditional Christmas Carols. Children will need to be at the Free School by 9.30am for rehearsal, and they will need transport from parents. The children will also need a packed lunch and tea and will be returning home at 8pm. Children will have to commit to both concerts, even if parents/family are only attending one performance. We will provide further information nearer the time, but as spaces are limited please confirm that your child can be present at both concerts and whether you are able to offer transport. Please let the office know as soon as possible email office@st-peters-yoxall.staffs.sch.uk 01543 472236
Safeguarding At Yoxall St Peter s we take the protection of our children very seriously; it is our paramount concern. You will have noticed that we have been sending out more regular bulletins and your child has probably already told you about our SMART campaign to raise awareness of the dangers online. We are also doing work in school to make sure that the older children especially know the age requirements for certain apps, to back up parents when children ask to download them. Fortnite Warnings The NSPCC has recently published advice on the potential hazards of the popular online game, FORTNITE. This can be found at https://www.net-aware.org.uk/news/fortnite-all-you-need-know/ Don t forget, you can find out about other games and apps in our comprehensive e-safety area on our website. Navigate to Parents, then E-Safety. We will be announcing a series of seminars on e-safety next half term, including an indepth workshop run by the charity SARAC. Other NSPCC Resources There are some fantastic free resources available on the NSPCC website such as PSHE approved lesson plans, the Underwear rule and Share Aware: https://learning.nspcc.org.uk/research-resources/schools/pants-teaching/ https://learning.nspcc.org.uk/research-resources/schools/share-aware-teaching/ Also check out their award-winning website called Net Aware which is a simple guide to the social networks children use: https://www.net-aware.org.uk/
