A Message from your Head Teacher Ms Russell Friday 25 th May 2018 Phonics Year 1 and a small number of Year 2 children will be given a phonics pack over the half term break. Parents are asked to ensure that their children use the pack to practise their phonics everyday over the half term. Year 6 Saturday School for 3 Weeks and 3 Days of School during the Half Term Year 6 students are requested to attend school on 3 consecutive Saturdays commencing from tomorrow as well as on the mornings of Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10:30 to 13:30. The additional learning time in school would provide Year 6 children with the opportunity to work on their writing assessments as these carry a significant impact on their SATs. Every Child a Reader Day (ECaR) Thursday 7 th June Students are asked to bring in their favourite book on the day and parents support are being sought by attending the event. Please indicate your attendance by returning the confirmation slips as soon as possible. Year 5 London Zoo Trip Friday 8 th June Year 5 students will be going to a trip to London Zoo to partake in a workshop based on Discover Classification. This trip has been heavily subsidised by the school and parents are therefore being asked to contribute 5.00 towards the cost of the trip so to ensure their child s participation. Staff and Parents Theatre Trip Mayville Primary School is planning a staff and parents theatre trip to see Dreamgirls in September and tickets are anticipated to be at a discounted rate. Please contact the school office by no later than Friday 8 th June to submit expressions of interest. This is a meeting place for parents and carers with babies and small children to relax and talk together while children play. It offers opportunities for friendship, learning and fun. If the parent or carer requests that the school administer medication (prescribed only), the Head Teacher will only allow this on the condition that the school s Permission to Dispense Medication form is completed and signed by the parent or carer with parental responsibility. If the instructions have not been given in writing, it will not be possible for the school to accept responsibility for administering the medication.
