State End-of-Course Testing Requirements The following 5 end-of-course (EOC) assessments are required: * English I Reading & Writing (administered as one test) * English II Reading & Writing (administered as one test) * Algebra I * Biology * U.S. History
Foundation High School Program It is a flexible program that allows students to pursue their interests. The Foundation High School Program became effective with the Freshman class of 2014-2015. Upon entering 9 th grade students must declare an endorsement in writing. Endorsement is recorded on the students Personal Graduation Plan (PGP) which must be signed by parent and student.
Foundation Options 1. Foundation Program = 22 State credits 2. Foundation + Endorsement = 26 State credits 3. A higher performance category called Distinguished Level of Achievement = 26 State credits 4. Performance Acknowledgements that note outstanding achievement in specific areas.
Endorsements A student may earn an endorsement by successfully completing 26 state credits which include: The curriculum requirements for the endorsement Four credits in mathematics Four credits in science Two additional state elective credits

Endorsement Options All five Endorsement options approved by the state are available in HCISD. STEM PUBLIC SERVICE MULTIDISCIPLINARY ARTS & HUMANITIES BUSINESS & INDUSTRY
STEM Science, Technology, Engineering & Math STEM requires completion of Algebra II, Chemistry, and Physics. The STEM endorsement includes courses of study related to: *Four credits in science by successfully completing chemistry, physics & two additional science courses or *Three credits in math by successfully completing Algebra II and two math courses that Alg II is a prerequisite
HCISD Endorsement Options The Public Services Endorsement includes courses directly related to: Education and Training, Government and Public Administration, Health Sciences, Human Services, Law, Public Safety, Corrections & Security, JROTC (Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps) A Public Services endorsement requires a progressive sequence of 4 credits in at least one of the courses of study.
Public Service Endorsement Health Science Career Pathway can be earned by completing a coherent sequence of courses for four or more credits in CTE that consists of at least two courses in the same career Cluster. Multidisciplinary Endorsement The Multidisciplinary Endorsement may be earned by completing: Four credits in each of the four foundation subject areas to include English IV and chemistry and/or physics
Distinguished Level of Achievement 26 credits Four credits in mathematics, which must include Algebra II Four credits in Science Completion of curriculum requirements for at least one endorsement. *A student must earn DLA to be eligible for top 10 percent automatic admission into any Texas Public University
Performance Acknowledgments In bilingualism and biliteracy ELA requirements w/grade of 80 and 3 credits in same language w/grade of 80 or Score of 3 on an AP exam for a language other than English A score of 3 or above on an AP exam For outstanding performance on the PSAT, the SAT, or the ACT For earning a nationally recognized business or industry certification or license
Advanced Placement (AP) AP courses are college-level courses offered in high school Colleges rank grades in college-preparatory courses and strength of curriculum as the two top factors in the admission decision AP courses tell college admission officials that students are challenging themselves and preparing for the rigors they'll encounter in their college careers Each AP course concludes with a college level assessment Students get to demonstrate their mastery of college-level course work Most 4 year colleges and universities in over 60 countries recognize AP in the admissions process and grant students credit or placement

What is the PSAT/NMQST? The Preliminary SAT (PSAT) or The National Merit Qualifying Scholarship Test (NMSQT) is a test that helps you practice for the SAT. The test also enables you to enter the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) scholarship programs. It is a timed test, 2 hours and 45 minutes. National Merit Scholarship Qualifications In order to be eligible for the National Merit Scholarship Program, a student must: 1) take the PSAT/NMSQT during their junior year of high school 2) be in high school and plan to enroll in college full time by the fall after high school graduation and 3) be a U.S. citizen or a permanent U.S. resident with the intention of becoming a U.S. citizen
National Merit Scholarship NMSC uses the Selection Index based on the PSAT scores as an initial screen
National Hispanic Recognition Program Take the PSAT/NMSQT in October of their junior year Are at least one-quarter Hispanic/Latino Achieve the minimum required PSAT/NMSQT Selection Index score (this qualifying level may vary by state, region, and territory each year) Earn a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher by the middle of their junior year If you re a finalist, you ll get a certificate in the mail in September of senior year. You ll have plenty of time to list it on your college applications.
