On May 3, 2017, Albertans are invited to wear a hat to raise awareness of the importance of good mental health. Grade 9 PAT Exam - ELA May 9, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. Kyle Block Scholarship The Kyle Block Scholarship is in memory of Kyle Alfonso Block, known by his many friends, teammates and fellow musicians for his quick wit, kind heart and adventurous spirit. After graduating from William Aberhart High School, Kyle attended the University of British Columbia where he achieved top honours in Engineering and Economics. He went on to study law at the University of Saskatchewan. Kyle had a passion for hockey and music and believed strongly in equal opportunity for all. In his long and high-level hockey career, Kyle played on teams such as the Junior A Yorkton Terriers and the UBC Thunderbirds. He was known by all as a great teammate. While pursuing his post-secondary studies in British Columbia and Saskatchewan, Kyle continued to play hockey and music with his friends and teammates. The Kyle Block Scholarship is to assist worthy recipients pursue postsecondary studies who are or have been active in competitive sport, and music, fine arts or social issues. This scholarship is for any students who are going to be or are already studying Engineering, Economics, or Law at a post-secondary institution in Alberta, Saskatchewan or British Columbia. One or more awards at a minimum of $2500 are offered. Following is the criteria: A Canadian citizen or permanent resident studying Engineering, Economics or Law in any year of study, including entrance. Enrolled or awaiting confirmation of enrollment in a qualified post-secondary institution in Alberta, Saskatchewan or British Columbia. Involved in competitive sport, and music, fine arts or social justice issues through direct participation or volunteer activities. Able to demonstrate financial need and high academic achievement. Yearbook Reminder For those students working on the yearbook, please continue to organize your TA pages and continue working with your TA to get as many pictures as possible. 2017 Student Police Academy Application The 2017 Calgary Police Service Student Police Academy will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at Heritage Park from 0700 to 1530 hours. On this day, students will get to be police officers and will attend calls and handle situations that Police Officers do on a normal day. An Officer Coach will escort them from scenario to scenario and provide advice and guidance throughout the day. Please see Mr. Jewan for application forms.
