5. Pathways Expo, Glenorchy Campus: Wednesday 13 June, 9.00am to 8.00pm 6. Individual pathways counselling at your College 14-21 June (Online preliminary course selections open) 7. Enrolment applications due Friday 29 June 8. Online preliminary course selections close 27 July
9. Enrolments accepted and Campus Placement allocated in Term 3 10. Course Confirmation 13, 14 and 15 November 11. Head Start Week commencing Monday 3 December

Tasmanian Certificate of Education (TCE)
Obtaining your TCE is very important. More than 90% of GYC students achieve their TCE. Ticks in Numeracy, Literacy and ICT 120 credit points Most courses are 15 points each (this relates to the time spent completing the course) Example 5 courses in Year 11 = 75 points 4 courses in Year 12 = 60 points so 135 points in total

Course Options: In Year 11 students are asked to choose: a Religious Education course a Mathematics course an English course two other courses There are some exceptions: If a student chooses four Level 3/4 courses including Studies of Religion 3, they are allowed a Study Line in place of a fifth course By request, a student may defer English or Maths study until Year 12
4 X courses Level 2 or above (provided 75 pts in year 11.)
Vocational Education & Training (VET)
Our VET teachers are mechanics, builders, tourism operators & chefs Practical hands-on courses Many VET subjects continue through to Advanced Diploma level after Year 12 You can move from VET courses to University programs and receive credit Up to 6 weeks of work placement (varies with course) VET units will contribute points towards your TCE!
University Entrance
Gain your Tasmanian Certificate of Education (TCE) Some university courses may have pre-requisites Mainland universities require a Level 3 English subject (English 3, English Literature 3 or English Writing 3) Check TASC Website https://www.tasc.tas.gov.au/
Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR)
How is the ATAR scored? Five (or four) Level 3/4 courses are scored Three Level 3/4 courses must be studied in Year 12 Only up to Two Level 3 subjects will be scored from Year 11 Your five highest scores will count as per above Plus TCE attainment

IT at GYC
A wireless environment ICT support staff are available to provide assistance for IBM compatible computers Learning management system called SIMON Access is available from home to SIMON through the internet All students will receive a school email address and free access to Microsoft Office through Office365 (Word, Excel etc) Parent Access Module (PAM)
BYOD at GYC
Students are to bring a laptop to school (BYOD) Minimum specifications will be provided later in the year for best performance IPads do have access to our network but are not primary devices A number of laptop bursaries are available for students For more information on BYOD specifications can be found in the 2019 Course Guide or Handbook Use our Skoolbag app

School Fees
Students who wish to take up their place at GYC and who are unable to afford the school fees will be assisted by the College according to individual need Students are welcome to apply for a GYC Bursary should financial hardship be a concern Make contact with your current Principal or with Mr Deayton to organise this assistance
