BULL THROWERS AWARD All Lions are great people and stand out in our communities. However, there is that one Lion that even stands out among the rest of the Lions. This is that Club member that goes just a little over the top in serving his fellow Lions and Community. This is the Lions that each club should consider and submit for the Bull Throwers Award. This award is highly respected and is like receiving Lion of the Year for District 22C. The rules and qualifications are located in the District Roster book and are due to the Chairman of the Selection Committee by April 1, 2014. The submission can be by mail, or electronic but must be received by the 1 st of April. The committee will meet and makes its selection around the 2 nd week of April. The committee consists of the last 5 winners of the coveted award. Thank You, Lion Mike Bleything, PCC Chairman Bull Throwers Selection Committee Lexington Park Lions are gearing up for their annual golf tournament, Thursday, May 8, at the Wicomico Shores Golf Club in St. Mary s County. Tee time 9 a.m. with a shotgun start. Proceeds from the tournament fund the 3
Lions vision and hearing programs benefiting those in need in the Lexington Park area. The tournament is open to all golfers, but pre-registration is required. Sponsorships are available. The Lexington Park Lions Club is a 501(c)3 organization; donations are tax deductible. Please be sure to mark your calendars for the evening of April 12, 2014 and join us to celebrate District 22-C Night at the Greater Waldorf Jaycees Center. We will be honoring District Governor Dee for her outstanding and dedicated work both within and outside our District. Joining us from Lions International Headquarters will be ID Judy Hankom from Hampton, Iowa. She will be bringing us greetings from our world headquarters office. The student Honor Band, under the direction of Dr. Richmond Sparks Director of Bands at the University of Maryland, will be performing for our listening pleasure. We will, additionally, be awarding scholarships to qualifying seniors from the group. Once again, the United States Joint Services Color Guard will be presenting The Colors. We will also be recognizing the Dream Makers from each Club. Please be sure to submit your Club s selection along with his or her picture (preferably digital) to Lion Peter Gallo (pjg1014@netscape.net) by March 22, 2014. Remember, even if you do not plan to attend the entire convention you still need to register. It does not cost you anything to register, but we would like to get a good showing for District 22-C and support for current DG Dee Hawkins and our Candidates for DG Kelley Randolph and 1st VDG, Mike Bigler. Burtonsville Lions Club: We are having a Golf Tournament at the Montgomery County Country Club on June 2, 2014. We would like to invite all the Lions of District 22C to join us. Attached is a brochure that folks can use to sign up Elizabeth Pugliese, Burtonsville Lions Club Lion Bill Teslik of the Brandywine Lions Club has coordinated with the Honor Flight Network to provide a bus tour of the WWII monument and other military monuments in Washington D.C. for eligible 22C Lions who are WWII veterans. The tour is scheduled to be held on Saturday Apr 26, 2014 and will be free of charge. Hopefully the Cherry Blossoms will be out. The bus will have pickup points outside D.C.
