PRINCIPAL S REPORT Edition 38 6th December 2017 Twilight Market It was a disappointing outcome for the PFA to have to cancel last Friday s Twilight Market, but of course with the extreme weather conditions and alerts, there was no option. The market has been rescheduled for 16 February next year to coincide with the annual Welcome BBQ. I would like to sincerely thank the PFA and in particular Amanda Thorpe, for the huge amount of work that they put into organising this planned event. Fortunately most of the stall holders who were booked for the night will be returning for the rescheduled date in February. The PFA is continuing to sell tickets for the Thermomix raffle, with further details of this listed below. Christmas Concert The staff and PFA are looking forward to seeing everyone at the Greythorn Christmas Concert on Thursday 14th December on the tiger turf. A few of the stall holders who were going to sell Christmas items at our cancelled Twilight Market will be coming along to the Christmas Concert night, so you will have the opportunity to pick up some festive delights. There will also be an ice cream van and coffee van in attendance, and snow cones and glow products for sale. There are still tickets available for the Thermomix Raffle. You will be able to view the Thermomix at the concert, and dream about how easy your life would be if you owned a Thermomix. You can buy tickets at the concert - $20 per ticket with a very limited number of tickets available. Your chances of winning are high! Swimming Trials Congratulations to all of the students who participated in last week s swimming trials held on Monday and Tuesday. It was fantastic to see over 170 students nominate for all of the planned events. Holding the trials now means that the students who have been selected for the swimming team will have the ensuing weeks to train and prepare well in advance for next year s carnivals. Thank you to Claire Knell for organising and coordinating the 2- day program, as well to all of the teachers and parents who attended to assist on both days. Parent Helpers Morning Tea Next Monday is our annual morning tea to enable the staff to show their appreciation and thank all parents who have assisted at Greythorn in a wide variety of ways throughout the year. This is being held in the Hall from 10:30 to 11:30am. We are looking forward to welcoming as many parents as possible on the morning so that the staff can pass on their thanks and appreciation to all who have assisted. Lost Property Our lost property cupboard is overflowing at the moment with clothing and other items. If your child/children is missing items of clothing then I urge you to check in the cupboard prior to the end of the year. On Thursday, December 21, all items remaining will be removed with some clothing to be handed to the second-hand uniform shop and other items, such as food containers, disposed of.
