Avenues toward College Credit at CVCA AP Program CLEP College Courses at CVCA Online College Courses College Campus Courses College Credit Plus (CCP) may cover costs if eligible.

Advanced Placement (AP) Program Courses offered at CVCA: Calculus AB Calculus BC Statistics Biology Chemistry Physics 1 Music Theory Studio Art: 2D Studio Art: Drawing English Literature and Composition English Language and Composition Latin Spanish Language and Culture United States History United States Government & Politics European History Macroeconomics, Microeconomics Additional AP courses are available for students who wish to pursue them on their own. These additional AP exams can be taken at CVCA. See complete list here.

AP Program Requirements: 3.0 overall GPA and at least a B- in any prerequisite coursework to register for an AP course Appeal forms are available in the Guidance Office Cost: Each AP exam costs $94, due by check to CVCA in February. Additional Information: Students take the AP exam in May. College credit awarded based on exam score. Students receive a score on a scale of 1-5. Most colleges and universities award college credit for a score of 3, 4, or 5. However, students should check with their individual university or check here for information about AP credit policy.

AP Program Next Steps to take AP Courses: 1. Log into your Score Report from College Board to research their suggestions of AP courses that would fit your interests and abilities through AP Potential. These are based on your PSAT 8/9 or PSAT/NMSQT scores. 2. Talk with your guidance counselor about which AP courses would interest you. 3. Register for an AP course with your guidance counselor if your cumulative GPA is 3.0 or above and you meet the prerequisites. 4. If you do not have a GPA of 3.0 or do not meet the prerequisites, you may appeal for an AP course if you feel strongly that you can perform well in it and are ready for the commitment that the course will require.

College Level Examination Program (CLEP) CLEP offers 33 college level exams that are accepted by more than 2,900 universities and colleges for credit in a wide variety of academic disciplines. Each college and university sets its own policies regarding whether it accepts a specific CLEP exam for credit, what credit it grants for a specific CLEP test, and what score is required to receive that credit. Please check with your desired institution.

College Level Examination Program (CLEP) Courses taught at CVCA which could lead to passing a CLEP exam: Sociology Precalculus Psychology Spanish 3 or 4 Government Cost: $85 per exam GPA Requirement: none Students can take a CLEP test in any subject offered by College Board. College Level Examination Program (CLEP) Next Steps to take for CLEP exams: 1. Find the complete list of CLEP exams at clep.collegeboard.org/started 2. Check with the colleges that you are interested in to see if they accept CLEP credits. 3. Take a class at CVCA which can prepare you for the CLEP exam or study on your own. 4. Register for a seat to take a CLEP exam at the same website as above. CLEP exams are available on most days, not just certain dates. 5. Students can sit for CLEP exams at Kent State University (Kent and Stark campuses), University of Akron, Malone University, Cleveland State University, and more.

College Credit Plus (CCP) A Guide to College Credit Plus for Students & Families Ohio s new College Credit Plus can help you earn college and high school credits at the same time by taking college courses from community colleges or universities. The purpose of this program is to promote rigorous academic pursuits and to provide a wide variety of options to college-ready students. Taking a college course from a public college or university is free. That means no cost for tuition, books, or fees. If you choose to attend a private college or university, you may have limited costs. From www.ohiohighered.org/ccp CVCA students can choose to attend any college in Ohio that offers a course that would benefit your future. This could include college campus courses taken face-to-face on the college campus, online courses, or dual credit courses offered at CVCA.

College Credit Plus (CCP) College Credit Courses offered at CVCA Assuming sufficient enrollment, CVCA offers several dual credit courses on campus through Malone University: College Writing (Eng 145) Introduction to Creative Writing (Eng 231) Precalculus (Math 150) Medical Anatomy & Physiology* (Bio 131 and Bio 132) Church History (Theo 201) - CCP Funding not available Apologetics (Theo 362) - CCP Funding not available *Open only to students in the School of Medical Professions

College Credit Plus (CCP) Online College Courses Students may find an online college course from any Ohio university. In particular, CVCA has a working partnership with Cedarville s online college course program. Find more info here: www.cedarville.edu/academics/college-now Students will be assigned a study hall on their CVCA class schedule and will not leave the CVCA campus to work on their online college course.

College Credit Plus (CCP) College Campus Courses Students may find a college course from any Ohio university within driving distance of CVCA. Options include (but are not limited to): Cuyahoga Community College Kent State University Kent State University s regional campuses Malone University University of Akron

College Credit Plus (CCP) College Campus Courses Requirements to attend a college campus course include: 1. Be on CVCA campus for Chapel and Connections. 2. Take a combination of at least 6 high school and college courses each semester. 3. Pay full tuition at CVCA. 4. Be in attendance at CVCA until time to leave for college campus course.

College Credit Plus (CCP) Requirements for Participation: Dual Credit: CVCA Campus, Online Courses, College Campus Course 1. 3.0 cumulative GPA 2. 21 ACT or 990 SAT 3. Take Bible requirements at CVCA. 4. College grade will be calculated into CVCA GPA using the AP weight scale. 5. A 3-semester hour college course will transfer to 1 credit at CVCA.

College Credit Plus (CCP) Next Steps to participate in CCP: 1. Complete school counseling requirement by meeting with Mr. Tomich in the Guidance Office before applying to the college or university. 2. Apply to the college or university where you are taking the class by mid-march which must include an ACT or SAT score. 3. Submit Letter of Intent to Ohio Department of Education (ODE) by April 1. 4. Create a SAFE account with ODE and complete the funding application by April 15. Funding application must include college acceptance letter. Ohio Department of Education CCP
