University Proceedings of the meeting of the Committee held on 17.07.2017 at 3.00 p.m. in the office of Registrar of Guru Jambheshwar University of Science & Technology, Hisar. The following were present:- 1. Dr. Anil Kumar Pundir, Registrar.. In Chair 2. Prof. Rajesh Malhotra, Dean Academic Affairs 3. Prof. Sandeep Rana, Chairperson, Department of Applied Psychology 4. Sh. Sardul Singh Dhayal, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics The above Committee was constituted by the Vice-Chancellor to prepare the scheme/ system to start Creative and Innovation Strategies Activity and invite innovative ideas from the students from the academic session 2017-18. The Committee met on 17.07.2017 at 3.00 p.m. in the office of the Registrar. After detailed deliberations, all the members of the committee were of the view that to introduce and identify creative and innovation strategies in education system of the University, we should invite Innovative Ideas from the students of the University Teaching Departments to develop innovative culture. Even, the ideas from Colleges can also be invited if we develop a mechanism of funding by getting some fee from Colleges w.e.f. next session. Keeping in view the observations of the Vice-Chancellor on the draft proceedings of the Committee, the final recommendations of the Committee are as under:- 1. To apply creative and innovative strategies in the University education system and to develop innovative culture among students, a centre in the name of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Innovation and Incubation Centre may be established to invite creative and innovative ideas in the area of research from the students of the University Teaching Departments. 2. The innovative ideas should be focused on societal implications, society challenges and innovation in any field including some problems of University etc.
3. The University should issue a circular among the students of University Teaching Departments to invite innovative ideas from the students at latest by 15.09.2017. 4. The whole University Teaching Departments may be divided into the following three groups as under:- (i) Engineering & Technology/ Science (ii) Bio Sciences/ Pharmacy/ Environmental Science/ Biotechnology/ Physiotherapy (iii) Management/ CMT/ Applied Psychology The students of various teaching departments falling under above groups will register their name in advance to the following Deans:- Sr. No. Dean Students of faculty of 1. Engineering & Technology Engineering & Technology/ Science 2. Faculty of Environmental Bio Sciences/ Pharmacy/ and Bio Sciences & Environmental Science/ Technology Biotechnology/ Physiotherapy 3. Haryana School of Business Management/ CMT/ Applied Psychology The students may constitute the inter-disciplinary team for submitting an idea/ proposal. 5. The students having the innovative ideas will give a power-point presentation of 5-10 minutes about the idea before the Committee constituted by the University. 6. To judge the best ideas, a Committee may be constituted having an external expert from the specialised field with experience of innovation and entrepreneurship alongwith 2-3 internal teachers.
7. The following internal teachers will be included as part of judgement team in respective group as under:- (i) Dr. Sardul Singh, Dr. Vijay Pal, Dr. Mahesh Sharma in Engineering & Technology/ Science group. (ii) Dr. Sandeep in Bio Sciences/ Pharmacy/ Environmental Science/ Biotechnology/ Physiotherapy group. (iii) Dr. Sandeep Rana in Management/ CMT/ Psychology group. (iv) (v) The selected students having an innovative idea may be authorised to identify his/her team and a mentor/ teacher (one or more) from the existing permanent faculty of the University Teaching Departments for its guidance and proper implementation. However, the contractual teachers who are interested in such activity may also be involved. 8. An induction programme may be organized on birthday of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya i.e. on 25.09.2017 and a press note may be released for the formal launching of the said Centre. All the students in the three groups will present their innovative ideas in the Seminar halls of auditorium on the same day or as per the decision of Vice-Chancellor. All the interested students may be allowed to attend the programme, so that they may get an exposure and motivation for innovation in research. 9. The participation certificate to the students may be issued as an incentive mechanism and funding may also be given by the University to the selected students for its implementation having best 2-3 ideas. 10. To organize an exhibition on Science Day of all the projects which are the outcome of the innovative ideas from the students, the students from surrounding prominent schools/ colleges may also be invited in the exhibition.
11. The possibilities may also be explored for outside agency to convert the innovative ideas into project and project into product and its patent etc. for its implementation. 12. The funding for the said activities be taken from Miscellaneous Fund/ Head of the University for the year 2017-18. However, DST has similar programme, one should look for funding from DST, they give projects as well. 13. The TA/DA to the external teacher for one-day may be paid by the Accounts Branch.
