16 5) ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS ALL THE REGISTRATIONS FOR COMPETITION SHALL COMPLY WITH HIS/ HER CATEGORY OF STUDENTSHIP. HOWEVER, STUDENTS WHO HAVE NOT COMPLETED TWO-THIRD (2/3) OF THEIR EXISTING COURSE LEVEL BY MONDAY, 5 TH OCTOBER 2017 WILL BE ELIGIBLE TO ADMIT ONE LOWER CATEGORY OF COMPETITION. AGE CALCULATION: (YEAR 2017 MINUS (-) YEAR OF BIRTH) MAXIMUM OF ONE CATEGORY OF COMPETITION TO BE ADMITTED BY ONE INDIVIDUAL. ALL PARTICIPATING STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO MOVE AT LEAST 2-COURSE LEVEL GAP IN A YEAR. IMPORTANT NOTE: ANY CONTESTANT, WHO IS FOUND TO BE ADMITTED INTO OTHER LOWER CATEGORIES OF COMPETITION, SHALL BE IMMEDIATELY DISQUALIFIED FROM THE COMPETITION. NATIONAL FRANCHISEES SHALL BE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL THE INFORMATION SUBMITTED AND REGISTRATIONS MADE. UCMAS INTERNATIONAL HEADQUARTERS WILL NOT ENTERTAIN NOR BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DISPUTES, COMPLAINTS AND APPEALS ARISING FROM ANY SUCH DISQUALIFICATION. VISUAL COMPETITION
17 6) EVALUATION OF PAPERS/ ADJUSTMENT OF MARKS EACH ADDITION/SUBTRACTION QUESTION WILL CARRY TEN MARKS WHILE MULTIPLICATION/ DIVISION QUESTIONS WILL CARRY FIVE MARKS EACH. IN THE EVENT THERE IS A TIE IN THE OVERALL SCORES FOR EACH CATEGORY, THE JURY WILL RANK THE PARTICIPANTS BASED ON THEIR AGES, GREATEST CAPABILITY OF ADDITION & SUBTRACTION AND ACCURACY RATES. IF A TIE STILL EXISTS, BOTH WILL BE DECLARED AS WINNERS. VISUAL COMPETITION
18 7) ADJUSTMENT OF COMPETITION MARKS Move of Category in a Year STUDENT COMPETITION MARKS ARE SUBJECT TO ADJUSTMENT DEPENDING ON THEIR MOVE OF COURSE LEVELS IN A YEAR AND REGISTERED CATEGORIES IN THE COMPETITION. 19 8) ALLOCATION OF PRIZES TROPHIES OF CERTIFICATES WILL BE AWARDED TO GRAND CHAMPION, CHAMPION, 1 ST RUNNER-UP, 2 ND RUNNER-UP & 3 RD RUNNER-UP FOR EACH CATEGORY. EACH PARTICIPATING STUDENT IS GUARANTEED TO RECEIVE AT LEAST A 3 RD RUNNER-UP TROPHY PROVIDED HE/ SHE PARTICIPATED AND ATTAINED SCORES IN THE COMPETITION. VISUAL COMPETITION
20 9) REGISTRATION PROCEDURES THE REGISTRATION FORM WILL BE SENT FORM UCMAS INTERNATIONAL HEADQUARTERS TO THE RESPECTIVE NATIONAL FRANCHISEES. ALL THE REGISTRATION FORMS MUST BE FILLED OUT COMPLETELY. AGE INFORMATION REMAINS IMPORTANT AS IT IS ONE OF THE CRITERIA TO BE TAKEN INTO CONSIDERATION IF THERE IS A TIE IN THE OVERALL SCORES. UCMAS INTERNATIONAL HEADQUARTERS RESERVES THE RIGHTS TO DISQUALIFY ANY CONTESTANTS WHOSE INFORMATION PROVIDED IS FOUND TO BE FALSE OR INCORRECT, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER IT IS INTENTIONALLY OR UNINTENTIONALLY. NATIONAL FRANCHISEES SHALL BE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL THE INFORMATION SUBMITTED AND UCMAS INTERNATIONAL HEADQUARTERS WILL NOT ENTERTAIN NOR BE IN ANYWAY RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DISPUTES, COMPLAINTS AND APPEALS ARISING FROM ANY SUCH DISQUALIFICATION. 22 11) GENERAL RULES IT IS COMPULSORY FOR ALL CONTESTANTS TO WEAR PROPER ATTIRES AND CONTESTANTS WHO ARE COMPETING FOR ABACUS CALCULATING CATEGORIES ARE REMINDED TO BRING ALONG THEIR ABACUSES. COMPETITION ITEMS (T-SHIRTS, HALL TICKETS, WRISTBANDS & ETC) WILL BE GIVEN PRIOR TO THE COMPETITION. APPROPRIATE ATTIRE IS ALSO MANDATORY FOR ALL UCMAS NATIONAL FRANCHISEES, STATE FRANCHISEES, FRANCHISEES, COURSE INSTRUCTORS, PARENTS & ETC. THE ORGANISER RESERVES THE RIGHTS TO DISALLOW ANY CONTESTANTS, PARENTS, SPECTATORS FROM ENTERING INTO THE COMPETITION HALL SHOULD THEY FAIL TO ADHERE TO THE APPROPRIATE DRESS CODE. VISUAL COMPETITION

25 1) PURPOSE THE PURPOSE OF THIS COMPETITION IS TO PROMOTE THE UCMAS MENTAL ARITHMETIC LISTENING CURVE FOR THE STUDENT BRAIN ENHANCEMENT WHICH FALLS DIRECTLY IN UCMAS TEACHING DELIVERY OF COMIC JARS (CONCENTRATION, OBSERVATION, MEMORY POWER, IMAGINATION, CREATIVITY, JUDGMENT, APPLICATION, REASONING & SELF-CONFIDENCE). LISTENING COMPETITION
26 2) CATEGORIES OF COMPETITION A. AGE 7 & BELOW B. AGE 8 TO 10 C. AGE 11 & ABOVE 3) PRIZES OF EACH CATEGORY A. CHAMPION : USD CERTIFICATE B. 1 ST RUNNER UP: USD CERTIFICATE C. 2 ND RUNNER UP: USD CERTIFICATE D. MAXIMUM OF 5 FINAL ROUND MERIT WINNERS: USD CERTIFICATE EACH i. 27 4) REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS THIS COMPETITION IS OPEN TO STUDENTS WHO PARTICIPATE IN THE VISUAL COMPETITION. CONTESTANTS ARE REQUIRED TO REGISTER THROUGH THEIR RESPECTIVE UCMAS LEARNING CENTRES. CENTRE PRINCIPALS/ COURSE INSTRUCTORS ARE REQUIRED TO BRIEF THEIR STUDENTS ON THE RULES & REGULATIONS PRIOR TO THE COMPETITION. THE REGISTRATION FEE INCLUDES A WRITING BOARD AND MARKER PEN. LISTENING COMPETITION
28 5) RULES & REGULATIONS THE COMPETITION SHALL BE CONDUCTED IN ENGLISH. THE AUDIO RECORDING OF LISTENING CALCULATION COMPETITION WOULD BE PROVIDED TO ALL NATIONAL FRANCHISEES. THE COMPETITION WILL BE DIVIDED INTO KNOCK-OUT PRELIMINARY AND FINAL ROUNDS. A MAXIMUM OF 5 FINALISTS OF EACH CATEGORY SHALL BE QUALIFIED TO PROCEED TO THE FINAL ROUND. THE COMPETITION CONSISTS ONLY ADDITION AND SUBTRACTION SUMS. IT IS COMPULSORY FOR PARTICIPATING UCMAS STUDENTS TO WEAR PROPER ATTIRES & UCMAS T- SHIRT ON THE DAY OF COMPETITION. STUDENTS SHALL BE REQUIRED TO PRESENT THEIR COMPETITION DOCKETS AND WRIST RIBBONS FOR VERIFICATION PRIOR TO COMMENCEMENT OF THE COMPETITION. NO SUBSTITUTION SHALL BE PERMITTED IF THE REGISTERED CONTESTANT IS NOT PRESENCE. LISTENING COMPETITION
29 6) FLOWS OF COMPETITION THE COMPETITION COMPRISES FOUR STAGES: STAGE 1: PRIOR TO THE PRELIMINARY ROUND THERE SHALL BE 5 WARM-UP QUESTIONS PRIOR TO THE START OF EACH ROUND, WHICH GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS AND DO S & DON TS SHALL BE INSTRUCTED TO THE CONTESTANTS. WARM-UP QUESTIONS WOULD BE READ OUT TO GIVE A BETTER UNDERSTANDING TO THE CONTESTANTS. LISTENING COMPETITION
30 6) FLOWS OF COMPETITION (CONT..) STAGE 2: KNOCK-OUT PRELIMINARY ROUND THE KNOCK-OUT PRELIMINARY COMPETITION SHALL BEGIN AFTER THE WARM-UP QUESTIONS ARE GIVEN. CONTESTANTS SHALL BE REQUIRED TO WRITE THE ANSWERS ON THE WRITING BOARDS AND TO RAISE UP THEIR ANSWERS ONCE IT IS BEING TOLD BY THE CHIEF INVIGILATOR. LISTENING COMPETITION
31 6) FLOWS OF COMPETITION (CONT..) STAGE 2: KNOCK-OUT PRELIMINARY ROUND THE ANNOUNCEMENTS BY THE CHIEF INVIGILATOR SHALL BE MADE AS FOLLOWS: 3, 2, 1 SHOW (STUDENTS MUST RAISE THEIR ANSWERS WITH BOTH HANDS AND THEY ARE PROHIBITED FROM TOUCHING ANY WRITING UTENSILS OR PUT DOWN THEIR ANSWERS TILL BEING TOLD TO DO SO); THE INVIGILATORS SHALL MOVE AROUND THE ROW AND THE CONTESTANTS ANSWER, AND CONTESTANTS WHO GIVE THE INCORRECT ANSWERS SHALL BE REQUIRED TO LEAVE THE COMPETITION HALL; THE PRELIMINARY ROUND SHALL COME TO AN END ONCE A MAXIMUM NUMBER OF 5 REMAINING CONTESTANTS HAVE REACHED AND IT SHALL PROCEED IN THE FINAL ROUND; THE INVIGILATOR S DECISION IS FINAL.
