1 FUNDRAISING, PROJECT DESIGN AND PROJECT CYCLE MANAGEMENT FOR ADULT EDUCATION GRUNDTVIG IN-SERVICE TRAINING CONTENTS Objectives 1) Familiarise on the EU funding opportunities in the current and future ( ) EU financial framework; 2) Provide advice and guidance on how to write a successful proposal for education and plan your project so as to exploit available EU funding opportunities in the training and educational area; 3) Familiarise with principles, powerful techniques, tips and free web based tools on successful project planning and effective project cycle management (PCM); 4) Familiarise with important financial principles of European projects in education and learning; 5) Provide advice on how to manage effectively your project in education and to apply monitoring, evaluation and controlling tools; 7) Familiarise with successful dissemination/promotion and exploitation principles of European projects. By the end of seminar, each participant should be able to: identify a funding opportunity in the European Union that should satisfy their individual needs and their organisation plan their project effectively and write a good proposal using Procjet Cycle Management tools manage effectively any European funded project in education using Procjet Cycle Management tools understand and use key elements as well as free web based tools on effective management of European projects that work in practice avoid mistakes in financial reporting that cost budget loss apply good examples and avoid bad ones on project planning and management of European educational related projects. Methodology Based on formal, informal and non formal learning, our methodology will try to stimulate active participation, pro-activity, responsibility and sharing of problems and thoughts of all participants involved. In this way, we aim to build a diverse and stimulating environment for studying, reflecting and working.
2 It has an horizontal and practical approach and will make use of the following tools: face-to-face lessons benchmarking team-building and team-working best practice case-studies project working practical laboratory driven simulations role-play focus-group daily evaluation through self and group assessment. Preparation After the confirmation and before starting, we will provide one guidebook and some other documents in pdf format and an online Library of Tools to start getting involved in topics and subjects which will be taught. Also, we ask participants to fulfil a questionnaire in order to let us understand their previous knowledge and experience and their specific needs related to the topics of our training course. Follow up All seminar participants are expected to maintain access and communication with the rest of their colleagues as well as with the trainers and participate in virtual discussions through the blog, facebook group and . Trainers will also be available for any further questions for a period of 5 months after the end of the course, both through the web and through individual skype calls. By means of these tools, we aim to get an effective follow up and to stimulate peer networking, to keep in touch and sharing views and opinions for unlimited time. Trainers The event is supported by an international team of experts in project management of European projects. The main trainers are: Alessandro Gariano (coordinator): freelance project designer and project manager, expert of EU Programmes and Project Cycle Management; President of Enjoy Italy Association, active in European funds for culture, non formal learning, adult education and local development; Isidoro Malvarosa: expert in adult education methodologies and LLP Programme; Tommaso Squillino, freelance accountant and budgeting manager.
3 Day 1: Welcome (start 16 pm) - Presentation of the course - Team building - Brainstorming - Welcome dinner PROGRAMME Day 2: EU Funding - Life Cycle of European Projects, from birth to the death of a project - Basic principles on funding from the European Union as essential info for your project planning - Overlook of the main funding opportunities from the EC for all sectors - Overlook on EU financial framework - The LLP, the main funding source in Europe for continuous and effective learning. Day 3: Project design. Part I - Fundamental Concepts on EC projects - Understanding project management principles, jargon terms - Familiarise with the content of an application form for requesting funding from EC - Effective tools, techniques and tips for writing good proposals - Best practice case-studies in project planning of European educational projects - Laboratory of PCM: step-by-step process and guidance in writing your proposal Day 4: Project design. Part II - Project Cycle Management (PCM): techniques, tools, methodology - Why some proposals succeed and the others fail in receiving funding? - Financial Management of European Projects funded by the EC - Laboratory of PCM: step-by-step process and guidance in writing your proposal Day 5. Evaluation and dissemination - Roles, tasks and responsibilities in managing your education project - Evaluation for improving the performance: principles,techniques, tools - Project outcomes: management and quality standards - Dissemination principles in your project: techniques tools - Laboratory of PCM: step-by-step process and guidance in writing your proposal Day 6: A new beginning - Laboratory of PCM: presentation and analysis of proposals made by participants - General recapitulation - What s next?: Strategy and tools to follow up - Course Evaluation.
4 Daily timetable (end: 15 pm) 09:00-13:00: class 13-14: lunch 14-15: individual elaboration/study/counselling 15-19: lass/laboratory : day evaluation 20-21: dinner after 21: leisure activities Main language used English. (Additional: Spanish and Italian). Certification of attendance At the end of the course, each participant will be awarded with a full Europass Mobility certificate. TARGET AUDIENCE/WHO CAN APPLY A) Persons at any stage in their career who are already working on a part-time or full-time basis in any part of the adult education sector (formal, non-formal or informal), including volunteer staff as well as those who are formally employed. This includes notably: 1. Teachers/trainers in adult education in the broadest sense (formal, nonformal and informal) 2. Heads and managerial / administrative staff of organisations directly or indirectly involved in providing adult learning opportunities 3. Project designers 4. Project managers 5. Staff involved in intercultural adult education, or working with migrant groups, travellers, occupational travellers and ethnic communities 6. Staff working with adults with special learning needs 7. Staff such as mediators and street educators working with adults at risk 8. Counsellors or career advisors 9. Members of students/teachers councils in adult education 10. Staff working in local or regional authorities dealing with adult education, including the inspectorate B) Persons involved in the training of adult education staff; C) Persons who can demonstrate a clear intention of working in adult education but who are currently in some other labour market situations (work in another field, retirement, absence from professional life due to family responsibilities, unemployment etc.); D) Persons who have completed a qualification leading to a career in adult education and intend to start a career in adult education; E) Other education staff at the discretion of national authorities.

Higher education institutions offering outreach courses for adults 5. Organisations working with migrant groups/ethnic minorities 6. Centres for guidance, councelling or accreditation 7. Other sectors of adult education. 1 Pre-registration HOW TO APPLY/PROCEDURE Ask us for a pre-registration form providing: o a short professional profile, underlining its adherence to field and topics covered by our course o your motivations and expectations in brief o your name and surname o the Country where you are working o the number of Session you would like to join Then we will send you a Letter of Acceptance to be added to your application. 2 Application e-form Download the last version from the website of your National Agency or directly from our webiste Complete it in the right way. We are glad to help you with some tips (please check next pages 8 and 9) and personal advice on request Send it to your National Agency before 30/04/2013: o Digitally: by clicking on "Submit on line"; see second last page of application form o On paper, after printing and signing the document (see tip n. 15) Please give us notice after you will send your application form. Applications should be sent to the National Agency of the Country where the applicant lives. In case the applicant works in a Country other than that in which he/she is resident, the application must be sent to the National Agency of the Country where he/she is working. 3 Evaluation of application and last step Wait for the selection results (around ). If your application is successful (and we hope so), you will be asked to sign an agreement with your NA in order to receive the grant Contact us immediately by mail to close the registration process We will send all information concerning the preparation of the course.
6 GRANT All costs related to the participation to this training will be covered by the grant you will receive by your National Agency (in case your application will be successful, of course). 7 Session 8 Milan, Piazza IV Novembre 4, 30 November-5 December 2013 HOSPITALITY Each participant will be accommodated for 5 nights in a 3* hotel or equivalent within the city centre with a bed&breakfast service. 5 lunches and 5 dinners will be provided in local restaurants. By the way, it is up to beneficiaries to choose the service they prefer, using the grant they will get from their National Agency for this purpose. 8 TIPS FOR YOUR APPLICATION 1. Read carefully the objectives of Lifelong Learning programme, Grundtvig programme and in-service training action. (You may download these in your mother language in your National Agency website). 2. Please notice that in order to get the Grundtvig grant you should demonstrate and underline your clear interest in project management for adult education and eventually your experience in this field. If you don t have any previous experience, explain your concrete will to focus on this field in the next future. Otherwhise, your application could be rejected for lack of adherence with field, topic and targets of Grundtvig Programme. 3. Read carefully our training descriptions and use this information in your application. Copy and paste this information but also describe with your own words how you will make the most of what we are offering (see tips 6, 7, 8). 4. Describe carefully how this training can help you to improve the quality of lifelong learning by enabling you to play a better role in the field of adult (people over 18) learning. This apply both if you are already active in the field of adult education or if you can demonstrate a clear intention of being active in this field. Describe carefully what you are doing (or you want to do) and how the competences that you can learn in our courses may help you. Give concrete examples. Start from you needs and explain how this training is answering to those needs. [Use this advice especially in section E.3 and E.4 of the application] 5. Describe the practical techniques, methodologies and skills that you may learn, improve and exchange during our in-service training and why they are important for you and for what you re doing and want to do. [Use this advice especially in section E.3 and E.4] 6. Our courses last 6 days and 6 nights in your application for the budget calculation you have to count 6 days. [Use this advice in section F.1] 7. Describe in details how you ll prepare for the participation in the training. Describe how much time you will dedicate to the preparation and how you ll manage and organize it. Describe how this preparation will help you to improve your competences and get well prepared for the rest of the training. Describe the synergies between the preparation phase and your current activity related to adult education. In the description of the training is written that after the confirmation and before starting, we will provide one guidebook and some other documents in pdf format and an online Library of Tools to start getting involved in topics and subjects which will be taught. Also, we ask participants to fulfil a questionnaire in order to let us understand their previous knowledge and experience and their specific needs related to the topics of our training course. Also mention that you ll stay in close communication with the trainers and that you ll take part to the preparation meeting on skype and carefully read the course infosheet. Try to be as concrete as possible indicating how much time you will dedicate to it and which competences and knowledge you may able to develop. [Use this advice in section E.2] 8. Please describe the European dimension of our training course, underlining that its added value are based on its internationality,
9 multiculturality and diversity and on the fact the European Programmes for adult education and learning will be studied and analyzed. 9. Describe in details the follow-up and dissemination activities you ll be involved into. Describe how you ll use the competences learning and how you ll shared those with colleagues and contacts. Describe how you will able to generate a multiplier effect by sharing and using the new competences by implementing learning projects. Provide concrete ideas and actions that you can put in practice to assure a better dissemination of the knowledge and a wider impact. If possible organize those ideas and actions in a structured plan of action. Describe how you ll be sing the e-learning portal for a better dissemination a multiplication of the learning results. Describe that you ll use it to teach to your contacts and learners. Highlight how staying in contact with the other participants through the e-learning portal and the YouNet alumni network enable a long term and sustainable impact. Describe how you will be active and keep the contacts with the trainers and the other participants. Highlight that to you will self-evaluate yourself after the training and that you will be actively peer networking and participate to the online forum and to online networking meetings on skype. [Use this advice in section E.7 and E.4] 10. Highlight the fact that the training team is multinational and have experience in more than one European countries thus widening the learning opportunities. [Use this advice in section E.2, E.3, E.4, E.5, E.7] 11. Describe the added value of the experience in terms of intercultural dialogue and European encounter. Describe how taking part in such a training with people from other European countries can help you to improve your competences. Explain the added value of taking part in such a training in an international and intercultural dimension rather than in your own country. Highlight that you will be able to improve your ability to speak in English by practicing it. Highlight the intercultural skills that you ll be able to develop, such teamworking and cooperating in a multinational environment. [Use this advice in section E.2, E.3, E.4, E.5, E.7] 12. Describe how you will use the Europass tools for certification and particularly the Europass Mobility. Highlight that you ll update your Language Passport and that you will include the participation in this inservice training in your CV. Mention that you ll receive a certificate of attendance including description of training content and time input. [Use this advice in section E.6] 13. Fulfil your application form and send it both electronically and in paper to your LLP/GRUNDTVIG National Agency and probably also by mail, depending on your NA (please check) 14. Enclose the letter of acceptance/pre-registration we will provide to you upon request 15. Remember the if you are in employment, the legal representative of your company/organisation must also sign the application (in the last page). 16. Please contact your National Agency (website and/or phone) and check all the documents and formalities you have to produce for a correct application.
