1 Groups are an exciting feature that allow for the easy organization of classes and students for instructors. Teachers can track their students progress; including time spent learning, engagement with a course, and assessment results all in one location. This tutorial will show you how to use Mango Languages Groups feature, from how to create groups, to how to get the most out of this feature in the classroom environment. Let s begin. 1 After the administrator of the main Mango account has given you access to instructor permissions, you ll receive an to complete the account creation process. Log into your Mango account using a laptop or desktop computer at 1

2 2 Upon login, you ll see the Groups dashboard, which can be accessed by clicking on Groups. To add new groups to your instructor account, click on the orange Create New Group button. 3 For Group Name, type the name of the class or group that all individuals will see. (Most teachers set this to the name of the class.) For Group Account, select the Mango account attached to the Group you are creating. Most likely this will be a single option, like the name of your school, (which is important to select for statistical purposes.) Once all of the information has been entered, click on the orange Create New Group button, and you ll receive confirmation that your group has been created and is now active. Group Language is where you can select the language that the class will be learning. It is not a required field, and you may leave it blank if multiple languages will be utilized in the class. 2

3 4 Click the orange Add Students to Your Group button. On this page you can add students from the master list. This is the default action for K12 accounts, but can be used for academic accounts as well. Your administrators are the only ones with access to upload, add, or remove individuals from the master list. If a student is missing from the list, please speak with your administrator to add them. Our search functionality should help you quickly find the right individuals, searching by name. Students can be added to as many groups as necessary. Another option for higher-ed and academic accounts is to invite individuals directly to Mango. If you don t see all of the students for the class in the master list, or if you see no individuals at all, hit Save to unlock more options. ( Save saves the list as well.) Here you ll see that you can invite individuals directly using the Invitations button. This allows you to input addresses, which will send an invitation upon clicking Invite. This is an example of what that invitation looks like, where you can see the invite code along with a direct link to get started. 3

4 5 Click on Back to Your Groups at the top of the Invitations page. Now you ll see the list of all the students within this group, as well as their latest activity and how much time they ve spent learning with Mango. A student s learning time is tracked by a smart system within Mango that checks to make sure students are engaged with the software. If the student is on a lesson slide for a certain amount of time without engaging with the slide or moving the mouse, the system assumes they have stepped away and are not actively learning. When you click on the name of any student, you will see a full log of their language learning and assessments, and can filter by any date range using our customizable calendar, a brand new feature in Groups. Next to the student s name, you can also see the username and password area. If the password is visible, this means the student has not yet changed it, but if the password is not visible, it means that the student has already changed it, and it is now private. **You can always click on Reset Password in case a student forgets their login information. At the bottom of the screen, you ll see the student s assessment results. The types of assessments within Mango are Chapter Quiz, Unit Test, and Course Assessment. When you click on a specific assessment, you can see completed assessments are automatically graded and offer a breakdown of questions answered correctly, as well as what the student might need to work on. (Psst! Because Mango Languages is best used as a resource in tandem with your class curriculum, we encourage instructors to review assessments to determine if any partial credit should be awarded.) 4

5 6 If you want to see all of your Groups, click on Back to Your Groups where you ll see the dashboard with all of your groups or classes. From here, you can create another group, or you can download instructor guides. Instructor guides are comprehensive language guides of the Mango Languages product, including chapter-by-chapter follow-through, vocabulary and phrase review, and pages condensing all of the languages cultural and grammar notes. (Psst! While this new feature directly applies to instructors in a classroom setting, Mango s Groups feature can also be used to organize learning communities in business and other group settings.) 5
