20 To make design thinking part of your innovation strategies Begin at the beginning Take a human-centered approach Try early and often Seek outside help Involve design thinkers at the very start. Along with business & technology, innovation should factor in human behavior, needs & preferences. Create an expectation of rapid experimentation & prototyping. 21 How to make design thinking part of your innovation strategies Blend big & small projects Budget to the pace of innovation Find talent any way you can Design for the cycle Manage a portfolio of projects: short-, mediumterm impact to long-term r(e)volutionary impact Don t constrain the pace at which you can innovate by relying on cumbersome budgeting cycles. Diverse, interdisciplinary, multi-cultural, multinational. Design projects may take longer than expected.
