1 INTERVIEW QUESTIONS Your questions should not offend and should be designed to help you establish the applicant's qualifications and likelihood for success on the job. Questions that determine values help verify if there are any misalignments. 1. What are some of the things that make a job fulfilling for you? 2. What three accomplishments do you take the greatest pride in? 3. What is the toughest job you have ever had? How did you handle it? 4. What kind of boss do you work best with? 5. What would your present or former boss say about you? What would he have liked to see you do differently? 6. How do you deal with a situation when your boss overrides a major decision that you have made? 7. Some people say that the best way to learn is through our mistakes. Can you tell me about a mistake that you made, either work or personal that taught you a significant lesson? 8. What would your present/former fellow coworkers tell a friend about you? 9. We seek people who actively pursue ways to improve. Give me an example where you sought to improve yourself over the last three to four months. 10. Have you ever risked your job to do what you thought was right? If yes, how did it turn out? 11. What values do you admire most in your favorite boss? 12. During a heated discussion between co-workers, if you could be either a peacemaker or a decision maker, which would you choose and why? 13. Do you have any responsibilities that conflict with the job attendance or travel requirements? 14. What motivates you to put forth the greatest effort? 15. How are you with deadlines? Impulse Control When was the last time you were very angry. What caused you to be angry and how did you resolve it? Problem Solving Please describe the last time you were faced with a large problem. What did you do to deal with it? Can you give me an example-step by step-of how you handled a difficulty problem at work or at home? Happiness Tell me about the best thing that has happened to you in the past five years. Creativity/Innovation Please describe the two best ideas you came up with at your current or most recent company? What generated these ideas? What were the end results of the ideas? Who did you have to convince the value of these ideas? Where do they stand now? (Ingenuity, problem solving, communication) Teamwork Tell me about the last time you worked in a team. What was the reason for the team and what was your role? Who within the team did you have the most difficulty communicating with and relating to and why? Project Management Please describe a time where you were responsible for a project from the initial stage through completion? What other staff members worked with you and what were their roles?
