1 Impact of QEP: Indirect Assessments of Student Learning NSSE Data- Student Perceptions of KSU s Campus Climate Supporting Global Engagement Quite a Bit or Very Much Students KSU emphasizes encouraging contact among students among different economic, social, and racial or ethnic backgrounds (Question #10). KSU contributed greatly to their development of understanding people of other racial and ethnic backgrounds (Question #11). Interest in participating in study abroad before graduating (Question #7). 8 Goals 1&2: KSU Global Learning Across General Education Course module examples Theatre and Performance Studies Students created an original script based on a myth, folktale, or legend from Haiti. Students documented how their research contributed to the making of the play. Biology How environmental degradation and other economic issues in Haiti have increased vulnerability to outbreaks of disease. History Discussed colonial history of Haiti, Haitian revolution, and establishment of first black republic.

9 Goals 1 & 2: KSU Global Learning Across General Education Course module examples Social Issues Courses Criminal Justice Explored international and domestic approaches to responses to crime and human rights violations in Haiti, using AAC&U Intercultural Knowledge and Skills VALUE rubric, to ask deep questions about other cultures and their complexities. Psychology Incorporated variety of articles, videos, class discussions, and teleconferences to increase awareness of sexual violence in Haiti (pre and post-test of students on plans to take action). Social Issues Courses Sociology Discussed social problems resulting from inequality in Haiti in terms of health, income, race, religion, and cultures. Students suggested practical ways to improve quality of life issues.
