2 DRDA HAMIRPUR Swatchta week in District Hamirpur Swatchta week was organized in District Hamirpur from 1 st April to 4 th April 2010 so as generate awareness about Sanitation and Cleanliness in the District.During The Week various activities were taken up. The issues of Total Sanitation was highlighted by means of means of IEC material distribution, kala jathas and visit of swatchta rath in different Gram Panchayats propagating the message of Total Sanitatin Campaign In Distict Hamirpur. The swachta week was organized successfully in district with active support of Gram Panchayats, Community based organizations. School Children, Mahila Mandals, Youth Clubs, Support organization (HPVHA). Preparation :At the very first, the meeting of District sanitation committee was organized under the chairman ship of Project Officer DRDA in which the action plan was formulated and the nodal officers were appointed to perform scheduled activities of Swatchta week. In the meeting all BDOs,all Block Coodinators Of Tsc, District Co-ordinator of Tsc, District Programme Officer ICDS,Deputy Director Secondary Education, Deputy Director Primary Education and Representative Of I& PH Depart ment participated.every Department present in the meeting assured to put in all effort for successful organization of Swatchta week. 3 Flagging off swatchta Rath On 1 st April, 2010 ( School & Anganwari Sanitation Day) the Swatchta Rath was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner. It carried the message and importance of Swatchta. IEC materil was distributed to the peapleof Gram Panchayats where the Swatchta Rath visited. In all the four days of Swachhta Week the Rath visted aal the Dev. 5 The message of Swachhta was successfully propagated in all places where the swachhhta rath visited. A kala jatha was also accompanied the Swachhta Rath. The newspapers also highlighted the the efforts made through Kala Jathas which accompanied the Swachhta Rath. Dainik Bhaskar( ) Punjab Kesari

6 Students,teachers,local people participating in swachhta Yatra with Swchhta Rath Organisation of school and Anganwari Day sanitation day (1 st April 2010) Functions were organized in all Schools and Anganwaris in the district where the importance of Sanitation was highlighted. Various activities such as declmation contests, painting competition and slogan writing etc were organized in Schools and Anganwaris The Swatchta rath which was flagged off from DRDA premises reached the Govt. Sen. Sec. school Mattani Hamirpur where the Block level function was organized and various activities were being performed by school Children viz. rally marching, declamation context, drawing competition, Slogan writing contest, etc. Similarly, all these activities were performed in each school of the district.on this occasion the help and co-operation from all was sought to make the distict Nirmal

10 Media Day (2 nd April 2010) On the second day of Swachhta week Intraction in the form of workshops and meetings with the media pesons wer held in the different Dev. Blocks and in the District Headquartes. At District Level Deputy Commissioner and Project Officer addressed the media persons informed them about TSC and sought their co-operation in the campaign.at block level Block Development Officers interacted with the media persons

13 Swachh Vatavaran Deviya Vatavaran & Water Purification Day : On the third day of Swachhta Week,i.e.on Swach Vatavaran Deviya Vatavaran & Water Purification Day the village community was associated in the cleaning the traditional water sources.all the villagers took initiative in cleaning the traditional water sources, villagers were also provided bleaching powder. With the initiative and cooperation of Block Development Officers in Disrict Hamirpur,we have already taken a step in maintaining the tradional water sources by providing funds under MNREGA. Taking the initiative Mahila Madal Members cleaning a traditional water source.

16 Gram Sabha Day ( 4 th April 2010) On this Day Gram Sabha was organized in the District. All district level officers participated in the meeting of gram sabha.the Gram Sabha members took pledge to keep cleanliness in their areas. In the meanwhile the Swachhta Rath visited GP Matti Tihra, GP Banal. 18 It is matter of pride and satisfaction that THE SWACHHTA WEEK was organized and celebrated in the nook and corner of the district with great enthusiasm with the active participation of all the stakeholders.this shows the success of total sanitation campaign in the District. It is pertinent to mention here that it was with the active involvement of all the Block Development Officers and their team that this week was a success. It is because of concerted efforts of DRDA and the Block Development Officers that the whole District has been made ODF.
