3 THE UNIVERSITY Founded in 1960, Beirut Arab University (BAU) is a private Lebanese institution for higher education which is recognized as a worthy leader in teaching. BAU s distinguished Faculties, wealth of innovative academic opportunities and reasonable fees continually attract students from Lebanon and the Arab World. During the last 54 years, our students and alumni have been mapping the future. Since it was launched, BAU has had over 103,000 alumni who hold elite positions and reside around the world, mostly in Arab countries. Continuous development and enhancement take place at BAU in order to meet international standards and to provide our students with the best opportunities. BAU has a relatively long history and a substantial presence in the Middle East. In 2010, BAU celebrated its Golden Jubilee. Many Arab students have, and will continue to benefit from our education and activities. Our strategy is to ensure that this engagement is positive, beneficial and will consequently enhance the quality of life in the region. BAU continuously implements new programs in domains that comply with the emerging social needs and the global evolvement in education and research. BAU today emphasizes quality assurance, international accreditation and research to meet the needs of our community.

4 INSTITUTIONAL and PROGRAMMATIC ACCREDITATION 2012 BAU received unconditional validation of the Architecture program from the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), which is a professional institution founded for the advancement of architecture BAU attained International Accreditation for the Communication and Electronics Engineering program at the faculty of Engineering and the Computer Science program at the faculty of Science, from the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) The Faculty of Dentistry received International Recognition from the Association for Dental Education in Europe (ADEE) on the basis that the Faculty program is up to the standard of those of European faculties The Faculty of Pharmacy received International Accreditation for its program from the Canadian Council for Accreditation of Pharmacy Programs (CCAPP) BAU attained International Institutional Accreditation from the Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation (FIBAA) The Faculty of Business Administration received International Accreditation for the Bachelor and MBA programs from the Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation (FIBAA) The Physical Therapy programme at the Faculty of Health Sciences received International Accreditation from the World Confederation for Physical Therapy (WCPT) The Bachelor, Master and Law programs at the faculty of Law & Political Science received international accreditation from the Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation (FIBAA) The Psychology programs at the Faculty of Human Sciences received international accreditation from the Accreditation Agency in Health and Social Sciences (AHPGS).

5 GRADUATE Studies 5 SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION FORM Dates for submission of application forms are as follows Fall Semester 1 April - 31 July Spring Semester 1 December - 31 December ACADEMIC DEGREES Bachelor Degrees - All faculties at BAU offer bachelor degrees. - Duration of study varies between 3 to 6 years depending on the major Diplomas The minimum required duration for obtaining a Diploma is 1 year in all faculties except at the Faculty of Dentistry (from 1 to 3 years) and for the DPT at the faculty of Health Sciences (2 years) Master s Degrees - All faculties at BAU offer Master s degrees. - The minimum required duration for obtaining a Master s degree is 2 years except at the Faculty of Architecture - Design & Built Environment (1&2 years) and the Faculty of Engineering (1 year) Degrees - Almost all faculties at BAU offer degrees. - The minimum required duration for obtaining a degree is 3 years

6 DIPLOMA Applicants to any of the graduate diplomas must hold a Bachelor Degree obtained from BAU or any other recognized university. Applicants to the Faculties of Human Sciences, and Law and Political Science, must hold a bachelor degree obtained from BAU or any other recognized university. All other faculties, however, require a bachelor degree with a minimum CGPA of Applicants must hold a Master s degree from Beirut Arab University or any other recognized university with a minimum CGPA 2.33 for the Faculties of Human Sciences and Law and Political Science and a minimum CGPA of 3.00 for all other faculties. ENGLISH LANGUAGE Proficiency English is the language of instruction in all BAU s Faculties except for the Faculties of Human Sciences where the language of instruction depends on the nature of the course(s). Applicants must provide evidence of their English language proficiency when applying to programs set in English. TEST Minimum required score BAU's English Language Proficiency Exam 60% TOEFL (paper and pencil) 520 TOEFL (internet-based) 68 IELTS 5.5 ARABIC LANGUAGE Proficiency Applicants to the Faculty of Human Sciences where the language of instruction in some programs is Arabic are required to pass the Arabic language exam before admission. SPECIALIZED ADMISSION EXAM AND INTERVIEW - Applicants to the Arabic Language and Literature, English Language and Literature, French Language and Literature programs are required to pass a special admission exam. - Applicants to the Faculty of Law and Political Science are required to attend an interview before the final decision of acceptance. - Applicants to the Faculty of Dentistry are required to attend an interview, practical and a written exam before the final decision of acceptance.

7 GRADUATE Studies 7 GRADUATE STUDIES APPLICATION How to Apply To apply to any of the offered programs, students are required to obtain an application and submit it together with all required documents to the graduate Studies Office in Beirut campus. Application Checklist An endorsed photocopy of the Individual Civil Status Record or a photocopy of the passport Two recent photos endorsed by an official entity An endorsed photocopy of the Official Lebanese Secondary Certificate or its equivalent An endorsed photocopy of the Bachelor Degree along with a transcript An equivalence of the degree from the Ministry of higher education in Lebanon before submitting the application. FINANCIAL SUPPORT Scholarships for Master Degree Two Master s degree scholarships are annually offered to BAU students who receive the highest CGPA with a minimum of 3.33 in each field of study in the undergraduate level. The scholarship is in the form of a 50% reduction on the program tuition fees provided that they maintain the same CGPA each year. Scholarships based on CGPA BAU provides direct financial support to students in the form of tuition fees reduction according to their CGPA. Students registered in the Faculty of Human Sciences Program (except Mass Communication), in the Faculty of Law & Political Science programs, and in the MArch program at the Faculty of Architecture - Design and Built Environment, can benefit from this Scholarship. Additional Required Documents Master s Applicants Two recommendation letters Applicants - An endorsed photocopy of the Master s degree, along with a transcript - Three recommendation letters - A copy of the Master s thesis Applicants to the Faculties of Architectural - Design and Built Environment, Engineering, Medicine and Dentistry must provide Work Permit and Membership in their order. Applicants for the Master Degree and MD at the Faculty of Medicine require the completion of one and two years respectively in a hospital residency program in the same proposed field of specialization. Scholarships for Distinguished Ms & students The University may also offer scholarships for distinguished students. BAU Provides Opportunities for its graduates to acquire international Scholarships.
