2 JPPSS Academics 8 th Grade In this document, you will find a sample district pacing calendar for 8 th grade math. This document is a sample. You have the option of creating your own to best meet the learning needs of your students. However, there are four major assessments referenced in this pacing calendar. Two of the assessments, Benchmark One and Benchmark Two, will be designed by the district. The Benchmark One Assessment Window is November 2 nd 20 th. The Benchmark Two Assessment Window is February 22 nd March 4 th. The other two assessments will be provided by the state. The state s Phase One Spring Testing Window is March 14 th 18 th. The state s Phase Two Spring Testing Window is April 25 th 29 th. In order to ensure your students are best prepared for these four assessments, there are specific CCSS that must be taught and mastered prior to the tests being administered. These standards are listed in the table, Calendar Overview, located on page three of this document. If you need more detailed information about each standard, please reference your school s copy of the Common Core State Standards Deconstructed for Classroom Impact document. The pacing calendar is designed to follow the primary resource, Eureka Math, which is provided by the district. Pages four through thirteen of this document show one possible way to pace the Eureka Math modules and lessons throughout the year to ensure the appropriate content is taught before each major assessment. Because the fourth major assessment (Phase Two Spring Testing) takes place in late April and could possibly cover all 8 th grade CCSS, there is a lot of material to cover prior to that point. In order to guarantee our students are best prepared for the major assessments, you will notice that some Eureka Math lessons will have to be combined or shortened. Use the Eureka Math: Grade 8 Pacing and Preparation Guide (located at to help you determine which lessons to combine or shorten.
