1 Speak English with Confidence 2017/18 COURSE GUIDE
2 DynaSpeak Course Guide Course Overview The DynaSpeak English Course The standard Full Time DynaSpeak English Course is 25 hours study time per week. In Phase 1, Mainstream Plus25 includes Elective options. This unique combination of two parts makes Phase 1 highly effective and allows you to focus on the skills you most need. In Phase 2, with Elective Pro25 you study 20 hours per week in your Elective option, plus at least 5 hours per week in DynaSpeak Online TM, supported by your Elective Dean. Every third week throughout your DynaSpeak course you ll also attend one hour group tutorials and review your Individual Study Plan. Mainstream Immersion Class DynaSpeak s Mainstream Immersion Class (MI) really works. The reasons are simple: very small classes and intensive speaking practice. In Phase 1 of the standard Full Time DynaSpeak programme there are nine students or fewer in your MI class each day, so you get maximum speaking practice in your daily MI lessions, that s 40% of the course guaranteed! The MI classes across ten stages focus on speaking to give you the skills and confidence to actually use the language. This combination of speaking focus, with intensive practice, really makes the difference! Phase 1: Mainstream Plus25 DynaSpeak s Elective options are structured in a similar way to university courses. The Mainstream Immersion component is the core of Phase 1, and your teachers match you up with an Elective option to complement your Individual Study Plan. The flexibility of Mainstream Plus25 lets you adjust your learning as your confidence grows towards Phase 2. Phase 1 is typically taken by entry or intermediate-level learners for the first weeks of the course, depending on individual speaking ability and progress. 2 hours per day, 10 hours per week in Mainstream Immersion (maximum 9 students, average 7) plus 3 hours per day, 15 hours per week in your Elective Option (maximum 18 students, average 14) plus Free Tutorial (1 hour) in small group, every third week throughout your course, focussed on your learning objectives plus Phase 2: Elective Pro25 In Phase 2, Elective Pro25 supports your transition towards advanced English proficiency with 25 hours fully focussed on your major study goals. Whether your dream is English for travel, communication, further education or career, Elective Pro25 gets you there, fast! You will progress to Elective Pro25 when you are ready, often after weeks in Mainstream Plus25. If you are advanced in listening and speaking with strong intermediate general skills, you may fast track to Elective Pro25 directly, or in less than three months. 4 hours per day, 20 hours per week in your Elective option (maximum 18 students, average 14) plus DynaSpeak Online TM directed learning, supported by your Elective Dean and focussed on your learning objectives and the DynaSpeak curriculum. A minimum 5 hours per week, with up to 15 hours or more Self-Directed skills development available plus Free Tutorials (1 hour) in small group with your Elective Dean, every third week plus Practical Workshops, developing active learning skills, every third week. Regular Assessments and Practice Exams, every third week. The DynaSpeak Examinations Centre DynaSpeak is an authorised Cambridge Examinations Centre. A full suite of exams from Cambridge English, including FCE, is available in the DynaSpeak Examinations Centre with Computer Based and Paper Based options. DynaSpeak is also an OET Test Centre, BULATS Test Venue and a licensed TOEIC Test Centre. Preparation for Cambridge, IELTS and TOEIC is integrated into the Elective classes and DynaSpeak Online TM within the DynaSpeak English Course. In your Elective Classes you can take a practice Cambridge, IELTS or TOEIC test under exam conditions, and we can reserve a place for your test in our Examinations Centre or book an IELTS Exam at the nearby University IELTS Test Centre. Free Class Field Trip with your teacher, for educational purpose, every third week plus Regular Class Tests and Assessments to monitor your progress, every third week. 1

11 Hello, I am Lorena. I left my family, friends and job behind in Chile. Coming to New Zealand, first I worried a lot, but my spirits rose the moment I stepped through the door into DynaSpeak s warm welcome. I realised I really could learn English. Now I love my professional work in Early Childhood education, my chosen career, here in Auckland. Reflecting on my experience, I believe that kindness, a human atmosphere and sincere friendship with good people are the most precious things in this world. You will find all this, and much more, at DynaSpeak. 10
