They have to complete 3-5 goals that they desire to attain; with 3-5 objectives to complete each goal. Teaching format; copy written or on computer. Physical tangible product listed on the syllabus Only suggestions; students are supposed to coordinate with their on-site supervisor about what type of project would be most beneficial to the experience provider. Intern completes a teacher work sample They do a portfolio in which they submit evidence and artifacts demonstrating their competency in 10 domains of professional practice as well as reports and case studies which also demonstrate their knowledge and skills. It depends on the major and the internship. PowerPoint presentation summarizing the organization The Senior Capstone Project is designed to be a culminating experience toward the end of your internship experience. The project will be the capstone experience of your major studies. It will bring together all the knowledge you have gained in the major and should show your breadth of knowledge in Therapeutic Recreation. This is a project needed by the agency, not just dreamed up to provide an experience for you. It can be research-based to help the agency develop and evaluate programs and activities. Or it can be developmental in nature, helping the agency address a specific need. The project can also be a cooperative venture with other interns if the scope of the project merits, and the agency supervisor approves it. Students need to complete a research paper (abstract, introduction, materials and methods, results, discussion, bibliography) or research poster (follows the same format as the paper). It is a multifaceted portfolio Page 23

25 25. How do you evaluate the student s work and come up with the student s grade? If it's complete and submitted on time, the student receives full credit (A). If not complete or not submitted, the student fails. That part is handled by someone else. By evaluating each required component Student reports, journals and self-evaluation; on-site supervisor evaluation; faculty journal reading 199R -- Employer evaluation, Student letter 399R -- Employer evaluation, Student internship report with case studies and evaluation. We have a grading scale. Each assignment is worth a certain number of points. Each emphasis awards different point values, but the structure and assignments are the same. Through a combination of reports, papers, portfolio and work supervisor evaluation. Read weekly logs, read final report, use evaluation form filled out by onsite supervisor. Students complete weekly quizzes and write brief essays about their experiences from week to week. For multiple credit hours, they write a paper and give an oral presentation, the grading for which is guided by a rubric. Follow guide lines set up by the Health Science Dept. Employers report, students reports Supervising internship sponsor completes a survey and provided the grade Projects + employer evaluation Read papers, assign points for turning in logs and for completing required number of hours. Have written reflections once a month, have conference, have hours logs, evaluations Online exams, practical exams, affective objectives Did the student pass the open book exam, complete the number of required weekly reports, did they answer the s, and the final report. The weekly reports and the final report must be written in a professional manner. 50% hours worked, 50% quality of product, self-evaluation, and provider evaluation NA (I don't do the grades) 75% of the grade is given by the students' faculty coordinators who oversee the academic component of the internship; the other 25% is given by the students' evaluations from their internship provider, including a record of hours worked. A grade is based on a rubric, observation, and assessment The main consideration is full completion of the required hours and two written reports. The internship supervisor's final evaluation is also instrumental in knowing if the student completed all their hours and their internship duties to the supervisor's satisfaction. Since we grade P/F, very few students do not meet the minimum requirements to pass. Hours, satisfactory approval from on-site supervisor, journal entries, self-assessment exercise and reflection paper. Page 25
26 Through weekly journals; review of a learning plan; a midterm evaluation completed by the student and field placement supervisor; and a final evaluation reviewed by us, the supervisor and written by the student. Papers, evaluation by employer, and oral interview We have a numerical scale for combining grades on the variety of activities. Level of work completed and demonstrated awareness of the ways in which major informs and is enhanced by the internship. Quality of work in their portfolio as well as feedback from on-site supervisors. Competency Assessment via established rubric, field team feedback, in-agency field instructor feedback, internship time logs and responses via established rubric, in-class core competency demonstration via established rubric. Read their reports as well as their supervisors' reports Coursework, final presentations, final papers Summaries submitted to me; evaluations completed by internship site-supervisors Completion of weekly s, mid-term and final evaluations completed by agency intern supervisors, completion of quality projects. Completion of 400 hours, supervisor evaluations, satisfactory completion of portfolio I look at the quality of the student's results and how well the student is able to incorporate his/her findings into the work of others. I also look at the significance of the student's findings and the impact that these results have on the field. Performance with internship (based on supervisor and self-reported midterm and final evaluations) and the portfolio. Required to turn in a paper and 2 evaluation forms. Student fills one form out and the employer fills the other form out. Also, it is a Pass-Fail class. They have a series of assignments that they must complete to earn their pass/fail grade Report Page 26
