1 APPLICATION MSc in Bioinformatics & Applied Biotechnology (Recognised and the degree awarded by University of Mysore) An autonomous institute established by the Dept. of IT, BT and S&T of the Government of Karnataka ELIGIBILITY a) The applicant is required to obtain at least 50% (overall) in his/her Bachelor's degree. b) Applicants with any one of the following degrees are eligible: BSc. BTech, BE, MBBS, BDS, BPharm etc. c) The eligible subject areas are: Life sciences, biotechnology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, statistics, any branch of engineering, pharmaceutical sciences, agriculture, medicine, dentistry and veterinary sciences. d) There is no age bar for applying. APPLICATION FEES a) For students from India : Rs. 500/- b) For NRI/foreign students: Rs. 1000/- c) The application fee is non-refundable. GENERAL INFORMATION a) Incomplete forms are liable to be rejected. b) IBAB reserve the right to reject the application if the applicant does not meet the required criteria. Selection is based on (i) the online entrance test taken from any place and (ii) the interview at IBAB. c) The application fee is to be paid through NEFT or by a Demand Draft (DD)/cheque drawn in favor of 'Institute of Bioinformatics and Applied Biotechnology' payable at Bengaluru. d) The application will be processed only on receipt of the application fee. e) All the original certificates should be produced for verification at the time of the interview. f) You must apply for a Migration certificate immediately after completion of your degree course as it is required when you join the IBAB MSc course. g) Foreign students should follow the instructions applicable to NRI candidates. IMPORTANT DATES a) Last date for the receipt of filled in application form at IBAB: 15 May 2017 b) Dates of online test: May June 2017 c) Dates for interview at IBAB, Bangalore: June 2017 d) Course commences: 17 July 2017 ONLINE ENTRANCE TEST: a) Applicants have to take the online entrance test. They can take the test from any place where a good internet connection is available. b) Login and password are necessary to take this test. These will be sent to the applicants only on receipt of application fee and through only. 1/5

2 c) It is recommended and encouraged that the applicants first take a TRIAL ONLINE TEST before the final test to familiarize themselves with the online test process. d) The online test includes questions from different subjects as the course is open to applicants from diverse backgrounds. e) Duration of the test is for 100 minutes. There will be no negative marks. f) After submitting the application form you must admissions@ibab.ac.in with your application number, requesting a user name and password. Click here for sample question paper INTERVIEW AT IBAB: a) Only candidates who qualify in the entrance test will be called for an interview at Bengaluru. b) Candidates are advised to reserve rail/air tickets soon after applying to avoid last minute rush. c) Candidates selected for the interview should bring with them i. A valid photo ID such as driving license, PAN card, passport, voter's ID card OR any other. ii. Original marks sheets and degree certificate. GUIDELINES TO FILL UP THE APPLICATION a) Mark the appropriate option with a tick in the boxes provided. b) Write name and address in block letters. Please leave a space between any two words. c) Candidates should fill in the name as it appears in their degree certificate and avoid abbreviations. d) Write clearly the valid IDs that you use most often. This is critical to get login and password details to write the online test. e) Only photocopies of mark-sheets starting from 10 th standard onwards up to the highest degree obtained are to be enclosed along with the application and proof of date of birth. f) Do not send original mark sheets or certificates or any other document. g) NRI/foreign candidates need to submit an additional supporting document (photocopy only) for proof of NRI/foreign status. h) Applicants are encouraged to fill up the application form online. They should follow it up by immediately sending the application fee (a DD/cheque or online payment), 2 passport size photos and photocopies of mark sheets by post/courier. i) Applicants who cannot apply online can apply by downloading the application form. Other requirements are as in (h) above. j) Access the online application form at Checklist: a) Make sure the application form is filled in completely and accurately. b) Make sure to attach/send supporting documents. c) Make sure to send application fee by DD/cheque/online (NEFT). d) Make sure to send two copies of your recent photograph. e) Your application will be processed only on receipt of the application fee. 2/5
