Neither practica, independent study, workshops, fieldwork, nor general-level courses at other universities are transferable. Typically, courses that are transferable are those that are directly equivalent to one of our required or elective classes. Due to practicum requirements, transferred credits do not affect the time to completion.

In the last few years, the College has begun to fully fund (for three years) 3-4 of our incoming doctoral students. In addition, full funding is sometimes available via faculty research grants, though of course those monies are available only to students working directly for that specific faculty member. Estimated annual budgets are based on the TC Cost of Attendance for a part-time student taking 12 credits/year (over nine months); budgeted figures may be different for those enrolling in more or fewer credits. All students enrolled in 12 or more credits and/or living in the residence halls are required to have health insurance coverage (TC or external). Full-time students/those living on-campus are automatically enrolled in TC's basic health insurance; this coverage may be waived with proper proof of external coverage.
