6 Yes. At the surface it may not seem like it has enough emphasis on writing expository and argumentative essays, but upon review of the catalog we can see that this course is required of all first-year students, and it fulfills the writing requirement at the College of Wooster. 6

7 *International Example. Yes, this course meets UC-E. It is part of a two-part series of writing/composition requirement. This school is in Cairo, but it is still an accredited American International University, and it has a good course description. LOI at American Univ Cairo is English. Yes, can be used on IGETC if CCC deems it comparable to their writing courses; American University of Cairo (AUC) holds US regional accreditation & IGETC standards allow coursework from international universities if they are regionally accredited. 7

8 This is a tricky one. It is a transferable course but does not meet the UC-E because it is only worth 3 qtr units. In order for a course to meet any part of the 7-course pattern it must be worth at least 3 semester or 4 quarter units. In the case of Oregon State, a student would need to take their WR 222 (3 qtr units) and WR 323 (3 qtr units) in order to complete the two UC-E requirements for transfer. If a student completes two of the 3 courses, for example WR 121 and WR 222, they have only completed the first UC-E requirement. WR 121 alone cannot be used on IGETC. However, if the student also completed WR 222, the combination of both could meet Area 1A per the IGETC Standards: 8.1 Minimum Unit Value A course must have a minimum unit value of 3 semester or 4 quarter units to meet the requirements for IGETC. (Laboratory courses intended to accompany lecture courses are an exception to this guideline, see Section ). It is not acceptable to take three 1 unit courses to fulfill a 3 unit requirement, because as a rule three 1 unit courses will not together provide the depth or rigor of a single 3-unit course. Exception: 3-quarter unit Math and English courses that satisfy IGETC Area/s 1A or 2 may be applied if they are a part of a sequence, and at least two of the 3-quarter unit sequence courses have each been completed with C grade (2.0 on a 4.0 scale) or higher. The course sequence must meet the rigor of IGETC Standards. (See Section/s and/or 10.2) 8

9 No, ESOL 1311 is not acceptable for UC-E. Course description covers too much remedial material. However, the course would still be considered transferable for unit credit. It would be limited with other ESL courses to 8 semester or 12 quarter units. 9

11 Mathematical concepts and quantitative reasoning (UC-M): One transferable college course of at least 3 semester/4 quarter units with a prerequisite (preferably published) of at least intermediate algebra that employs topics such as college algebra, precalculus, calculus, discrete math or statistics Exception: Statway math is accepted for non-stem majors, effective for transfer students applying for fall 2016 and later. Statway math courses may not require intermediate algebra as a prerequisite. Students must complete the entire Statway series to earn credit, but only the final course in the series satisfies the UC-M requirement. Completion of the full Statway series qualifies as a single statistics course, and credit is limited to one lower-division statistics course (maximum credit: 4 semester/6 quarter units). 11

Mills College 1.25 units = 3.5 semester units/5 quarter units. 19

22 Students need to be sure they are reading all notes listed on ASSIST with regards to credit limitation/duplication/repeats. Failure to do so could leave a student short the 60 semester/90 quarter units needed for transfer. If something is not clear students should not hesitate to reach out to a UC campus for more information. Usually course with higher grade is more beneficial, but sometimes the course with more units (even if it has a lower grade) is better for the student, if they need to reach the 60 semester/90 quarter unit requirement for admissions.

25 University of Auckland - credit was given for Advancing Math and Ohlone Math 101 was taken out. Auckland course covered sufficient math equivalent to Calc 1. Maths 150: The gateway to further mathematics courses for students intending to major in mathematics, statistics, physics, economics, finance or mathematical biology. It gives an introduction to the use of careful mathematical language and reasoning in the context of calculus of functions of a single variable and of linear algebra in finite dimensional spaces. DUPLICATION If the school C- equates to a 1.70, then we will allow the repeat, but if the school equates a C- to a 2.0, then we will NOT allow the repeat. Cal Poly State Univ - Undergraduate students are given a grade of CR for accomplishment equivalent to a grade of C or better. No credit (NC) is given for D+ or lower grades. Some Pass/Cr credits may be repeated if a pass = C- or better. 26

29 Counselors: Students are using their transcript to self -report coursework from their transcript to the UC application and add this credit look like it was completed under Fall 2014, but come to find out this is actually AP credit that is not actually transferable credit. Be aware of duplication of credit with AP and coursework. This Long Beach City College transcript shows both coursework taken in Fall 2014 and AP course credit received when the student was in high school. Students will oftentimes report both the AP coursework on their application and these courses from LBCC (Hist 1BP, Span 3P, and Span 99P). Please note that UC will consider these courses as duplication of AP credit, and will deduct credit accordingly. This may impact students who need these units in order to reach the 60 semester/90 minimum required.

30 We cannot accept this IGETC certification. Not only does it appear to be incomplete, but nowhere on the document does it say Full UC IGETC or even Partial UC IGETC. IGETC standards state that the forms must clearly indicate whether IGETC is full or partial, for UC or CSU. 30

31 If a student previously enrolled at a UC and wants to return to that campus, they should talk with that campus about re-enrolling. If they want to attend another UC campus they should speak with the campus they are interested in attending while also understanding that their performance at their previous UC campus will play a significant role when determining UC eligibility. I.E. poor grades at a student s previous UC will not be overlooked because a student has now done very well at the CCC. Students who enroll in LD language courses where the language is the language they were instructed in through at least the 9th grade will not earn transferable credit in those courses. UC determines whether or not coursework is transferable. By withholding information regarding previous college or universities attended, a student is delaying the review of their application. A student may be denied admission if it is determined that they falsified their application by not providing all information that was required at the time they submitted their application.
