Section 2 Objectives of the Program (1) The objective of the Master of Business Administration for Financials program is to impart to students who hold degrees in economics or business-related fields the qualifications required to assume management tasks and responsibilities in globally-oriented companies and organisations. (2) 1 The practice oriented program aims to prepare students to better meet the challenges that managers face arising from the globalisation and internationalisation of economic relationships and the emergence of a major European economic area. 2 Students gain both specialist knowledge as well as intercultural skills and the program is taught completely in English. Section 3 Requirements for Admission to the Degree Program (1) The qualification requirements for the master s program are: 1. Successful completion of an undergraduate degree program at a university with at least 210 ECTS credits in economics or business administration, or an equivalent qualification with a grade of at least 2.9 or a relative grade that demonstrates that the student was among the top 65 % of the graduates. 2. Postgraduate occupational experience relevant to the program not at the university after graduation, or the equivalent completion of studies requiring at least two years to complete and which can be accredited with up to 30 ECTS credits. 3. Adequate English language skills (proficiency) for the program. Proof of the required English language proficiency must be provided by passing a language test, for which an above-average grade is required. Details of the regulations can be found in the program handbook and are accessible to the applicants in the information material provided. The completion of an undergraduate degree program taught in English may also be recognised as equivalent by the examination board. 4. Proof of aptitude and suitability for the program in accordance with Section 4 of these regulations. (3) A competent examination board, as specified by Section 9 of these regulations, shall decide on the fulfilment of the qualification requirements, in particular on the recognition of the equivalence of a degree or certificate, the evaluation of whether professional experience is relevant, as well as on the proof to be provided according to para. 4, in compliance with Sect. 63 of the BayHSchG. (4) 1 If an applicant is found to lack the necessary skills specified in para. 3, they may be admitted under condition of submission of a student research project or credited assignment with a pass grade, or an equivalent academic achievement with up to 30 ECTS credits. 2 These course and examination credits must be completed successfully within one year, with one opportunity, at most, to re-sit or repeat any exams or course. (5) Degrees or certificates obtained according to other grading schemes or degrees or certificates for which no credits are granted are converted according to the modified Bavarian formula as follows: 2/9
Maximum possible grade minus the grade achieved, divided by the maximum grade minus the lowest passing grade; the result then multiplied by three; plus 1. Grade average according to the Bavarian formula Section 4 Admission Procedure and Determination of Aptitude and Suitability for the Program (1) The process for determining aptitude and suitability for the program must be completed in good time before commencing the program. (2) 1 Regardless of applications by means of the university s central online application management system, applications for admission to the program may only be submitted directly according to the process provided for this purpose by the Ohm Professional School at the Technische Hochschule Nürnberg Georg Simon Ohm. 2 Applications must be submitted at least four weeks before you to plan to commence the program. 3 Foreign application documents from abroad and/or application documents that are in any language other than German and/or English must be submitted with a certified copy of the originals as well as an officially certified translation into German and/or English translated by an officially recognised translator. 4 The date of commencement of the program will be published on the website of the Ohm Professional School at the Technische Hochschule Nürnberg Georg Simon Ohm. 5 Applications received after the deadline will not be considered. 6 Exceptions may be granted by the examination board if this does not interfere with the normal course of study. (3) Applications must be accompanied by: (4) a) Degree transcript(s) and diploma, in German or English, as proof of the qualification required in Section 3 para. 1 (1) (officially certified copies), b) References or certificates obtained from internships, periods of vocational training and periods of work experience in business, industry, administration or the service sector, c) Proof of English proficiency as specified in Section 3 para. 1 (3), d) A curriculum vitae in English, detailing the applicant s career path and professional development, e) A letter of motivation stating the reasons for choosing the Master of Business Administration for Financials program. 1 Aptitude and suitability for the program is determined on the basis of the documents submitted and an admission interview. 2 The interview will focus, in particular, on the applicant s motivation, practical professional experience and knowledge about the aims and purposes of the program. 3 The admission interview is deemed to have been passed if the applicant is able to confirm the facts presented in the documents submitted verbally and has understood the specific skill targets and knowledge required by the program. (5) The professors involved in the process for determining aptitude and suitability for the program are appointed by the examination board (Sec. 9). 3/9
(6) Completion of the process for determining the applicant s aptitude and suitability for the program shall be recorded in the form of minutes. The minutes must record the place and date of the interview, the names of the professors involved, the name of the applicant, the topics discussed during the interview, as well as an evaluation of the outcome of the interview. (7) As a rule, applicants shall be notified of the outcome of the selection procedure no later than three weeks before the start date of the program. (8) 1 As a rule, the determination of aptitude and suitability for the program shall only apply to the enrolment period immediately after the selection procedure. 2 It may be carried over to a later date at the applicant s request. 3 Applicants who have failed to demonstrate the necessary aptitude and suitability for the program may not reapply until the application period for the next program, at the earliest. Section 5 Commencing the Program and Costs of the Program The fees for the Master of Business Administration for Financials program are determined in accordance with the cost guidelines applicable to the Master of Business Administration for Financials at the Technische Hochschule Nürnberg Georg Simon Ohm at the time the program begins. (1) Section 6 Standard Duration of the Program 1 The standard duration of the program is three semesters, which can either be taken as a full-time program (two semesters of lectures plus one semester writing the master s thesis) or as a part-time program (three semesters of lectures including writing the master s thesis). 2 Further details can be found in the program handbook. (2) The university is not obliged to offer the master's program if the minimum number of participants is not reached. Section 7 Modules, Weighting or Evaluation of Assessments and Final Grade Point Average (1) The modules, the module credits, the examination results and the grade weights of the module grades used to calculate the final grade point average are all specified in the appendix to these regulations. (2) The differentiated evaluation of the examination results is done using the following grades: 4/9
- 1.0 and 1.3 = Very good - 1.7, 2.0 and 2.3 = Good - 2.7, 3.0 and 3.3 = Satisfactory and 4.0 = Sufficient and = Fail. (3) If a module assessment or examination consists of several parts, the total grade for the module is determined from the arithmetical mean, rounded to one decimal place, with the grades for the various parts weighted as specified in the appendix to these regulations. (4) (5) 1 The grade for each exam part must be at least Sufficient. 2 If the student fails any of the submodule exams they are only required to re-sit the failed examination, not the entire module examination. 1 The final grade point average is calculated based on the arithmetic average of the module grades, rounded to one decimal place, weighted as specified in the appendix to these regulations. 2 Other modules or subjects, which are not compulsory for achievement of the degree, are not taken into consideration when calculating the final grade point average. Section 8 Program Handbook and Module Handbook 1 To ensure the availability and quality of the courses, the Faculty of Business Administration prepares a program handbook and a module handbook, which are not part of these program and examination regulations. 2 They are adopted by the Faculty Council and must be publicly announced to the university community. 3 New regulations must be published, at the latest, by the beginning of the lecture period of the semester in which they first come into effect. 4 The program handbook and module handbook contain, in particular, information about 1. The allocation of the contact hours per week (Semesterwochenstunden) for each module and semester, 2. Qualification goals and course content of the compulsory modules, required electives and optional modules, 3. Type of instruction, 4. Type and scope of the assessment(s), 5. Number of contact hours per week (SWS), 6. Number of ECTS credits, 7. Course workload, 8. Obligation to participate, 9. The extent to which the classes in individual modules can be substituted by tutorial notes and other forms of distance learning. Section 9 Examination Board An examination board will be established, consisting of a chairperson and two other members, appointed by the Faculty Council of the Faculty of Business Administration. 5/9
(1) (2) Section 10 Credits 1 Students shall receive the number of credits (credit points) specified in the appendix for each module successfully completed. 2 The credits are awarded in accordance with the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). 1 No credits are awarded for optional modules. 2 Optional work is recorded separately in an appendix to the records specified in Section 13. Section 11 Master s Thesis (1) The student must demonstrate their ability and the knowledge acquired in the course of their studies in an independently researched and academically substantiated master s thesis applied to complex practical problems. (2) The master s thesis must be submitted in English and must address an internationally relevant topic. (3) 1 The period from the choice of topic until submission of the master s thesis must be commensurate with the topic chosen and should not exceed three months. 2 The student may request a one-month extension of the deadline for good cause. (4) The supervisor must prepare a written evaluation of the master s thesis. Section 12 Passing the Master's Examination The master's examination is considered to have been passed if the student has obtained 62 credits, as specified in the appendix to these program and examination regulations.
