5 Korean is the official language of South Korea and North Korea. Grammatically Korean is very similar to Japanese and about 70% of its vocabulary comes from Chinese. The Korean alphabet was invented in 1444 and made popular in 1446 during the reign of King Sejong.

9 Japanese is considered the most complex written language in the world. In order to get barely by, you need to learn all of the Hiragana and Katakana and at least a few hundred Kanji. Japanese uses a vast amount of foreign loan words ( 外来語 [gairaigo] - literally words from outside). You ll constantly hear familiar nouns and adjectives.

12 Thai is spoken exclusively in Thailand, by approximately 60 million people. The language is thought to be a form of Chinese that was gradually brought to the area between the 7th and 13th centuries. Thai is a tonal language. Its alphabet has 32 vowels and 44 consonants.
