2 Student Bursary Funding Booklet Years You may be eligible for College, if you are: aged 16 or over but under 19 at 31 August aged 19 or over at 31 August 2018 and have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). aged 19 or over at 31 August 2018 and continuing on a study programme they began aged 16 to 18 (19+ continuers on a 2nd year of a 2 year course). on a 16 to 19 traineeship programme. income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) support under part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act the guarantee element of State Pension Credit. Child Tax Credit (provided they are not entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than 16,190, as assessed by Her Majesty s Revenue and Customs (HMRC). Working Tax Credit run-on paid for 4 weeks after someone stops qualifying for Working Tax Credit. during the initial roll out of the benefit, Universal Credit. Have a gross family income of no more than 25,000 (see page 4). may be able to assist you with: course related costs (books, materials, equipment, study visits, UCAS fee). travel to college ie; Arriva Bus Pass, College Bus Service or other transport. WLMA half termly based on attendance. Meal Allowance To be eligible for a free meal in the 2018 to 2019 academic year the student must be aged 16 or over but under 19 at 31 August Students aged 19 or over are only eligible for a free meal if they: are continuing on a study programme they began aged 16 to 18 ( 19+ continuers ). have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). AND receive family income from one or more of the following: Young Persons Bursary To be eligible for the bursary students must: be aged 16 or over but under 19 at 31 August be aged 19 or over at 31 August 2018 and have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). be aged 19 or over at 31 August 2018 and continuing on a study programme they began aged 16 to 18 (19+ continuers). To be eligible for the Young Persons Bursary, students must be in one of the defined vulnerable groups: in care care leavers in receipt of Income Support, or Universal Credit in place of Income Support, in their own right. in receipt of Employment and Support Allowance or Universal Credit and Disability Living or Personal Independence Payments in their own right. The fund will cover any travel or equipment you may be awarded from your bursary. When your application for this fund is successful, West Lancashire College must then apply for funding on your behalf to central government This may unfortunately add delays to the application process and we ask for your patience with this. Be enrolled at West Lancashire College on a full-time FE funded course (excludes Apprenticeships). childcare please ask your Childcare Provider to complete the Childcare application form. Be on an Arriva bus route and need a bus to get to college. If you are 19+ you may be eligible for support with the cost of a bus pass see below for eligibility criteria. if you are under 20 years see Care to Learn. travel to college ie. Arriva Bus Pass, College Bus Service or other transport costs. Advanced Learning Loan Termly Bursary. College Bus Service (Kirkby, Aintree, Maghull) (Hawkley, Winstanley, Goose Green, Marcus Bridge, Pemberton, Orrell, Upholland) (Aughton, Ormskirk, Burscough, Parbold, Newburgh) You may be eligible for the College Bus Service if you: Fit the eligibility criteria for the Funding (EFA) (page 4). Be enrolled at West Lancashire College on a full-time FE funded course. Live on the free college bus route Kirkby, Aintree and Maghull areas - see timetable. If you are 19+ you may be eligible for support with the cost of a bus pass see below for eligibility criteria. Once your funding has been approved you will receive a termly travel pass from Student Services. To collect this you must bring your Student ID Card and proof of your funding and sign to agree you have collected your pass. 19+ Years You may be eligible for a College 19+ Discretionary Bursary if you are: aged 19+ on 31 August 2018 (if aged 19 and on the second year of a 2 year course, please refer to years). participating in provision as directed by the Education Skills Funding Agency, see for more information. may be able to assist you with: Course related costs (books, materials, equipment, study visits, UCAS Fee). Childcare please ask your Childcare Provider to complete the Childcare application form. if you are under 20 years see Care to Learn. Travel to college ie. Arriva Bus Pass, College Bus Service or other transport costs. 19+ Years Advanced Learning Loans You may be eligible for a College 19+ Discretionary Bursary if you are: aged 19+ studying a second level 3 or above and in receipt of an Advanced Learning Loan. participating in provision as directed by the Education Skills Funding Agency. Have a gross family income of no more than 20,817 or 12,400 if you live as a single independent person. Emergencies A small proportion of Learner Support Funds are set aside for genuine financial emergencies. If you think you need emergency support, it may not be necessary to complete an application form at this stage. Please contact Student Services to discuss this in more detail. Care to Learn (C2L) You can get Care to Learn if: you re a parent under 20 at the start of your course you re the main carer for your child your childcare provider qualifies you live in England you re either a British citizen or a national of a European Economic Area (EEA) country. your course qualifies. You can get up to: 160 per child per week if you live outside London 175 per child per week if you live in London. Care to Learn can help with the cost of: your childcare, including deposit and registration fees a childcare taster session for up to 5 days keeping your childcare place over the summer holidays taking your child to their childcare provider. 3
